what do you recomend
PARnet or SERnet do I have any simpler options
for simle transfer of stuff

Serial transfers are slow as hell, even in heavily expanded Amigas.
Prefer parallel if you are able to unlock the parallel on the other computer (it is a XP-PC or -argh- Vista?). Faster a lot!

hm, i thought Parnet is for two Amigas..
anyway, I got about 50Kb/sec on parallel port (IIRC)
serial is max about 11Kb/sec, if you have fast enough CPU.
But.. serial seems somehow safer to me. for some reason magplip stopped working on my Amiga, maybe too much data damaged parallel port. :-?

I don't think too much data can do it, but careless cable plugging can do it. Amiga's parallel port is bit too sensitive for even slight misconnection. Make sure all devices are powerless when connecting cables and be sure to use correct cables etc.

i must have had mindbogglingly awesome luck over the years when i was yonger. my old A500 took any amount of "hot plugging" on the serial and parallel ports with no i'll effects. but i wouldn't recommend it... :-D
however, i'd get a parallel connection working before i even considered a serial hookup... minimum of 2x-3x faster than standard serial... :-)

All you need is a 25 pin null modem cable, or if you can find one, a parnet box that turns an ordinary parallel cable into a a null modem cable and the Parnet program.
I got one recently and it worked quite fast. Some have complained of slow transfers, but I didn't have any complaints.
Otherwise, its floppy disks. :-D
