I do it for you. PM me if interested, and I'll give you my address.

As a regular user of a minimig is a pic programmer needed?
Sorry to hijack the thread btw :)
Say, when new cores for the minimig are released. Is it needed then?
-
I suppose, if he is replacing his µC, or if he needs to reflash it.
Disclaimer: Not a Minimig user (yet)

Hm, just got nervous :)
I'm getting a MiniMig you see.
But reading the readme.txt in the firmware.zip:
How to install:
- Remove any jumpers from SPARE I/O header.
- Put "minimig1.bin" on your SD/MMC card.
- Using Tiny Bootloader application program PIC's flash memory with "firmware.hex" file.
If you are experiencing problems:
1. Make sure you have bootloader programmed into your PIC.
2. Take care about pressing the PGM/RESET button in appropriate moment.
So I expect he's doing something more fancy ;)

Well, it sounds like he has flashed just the plain Minimig firmware alone, and the Pic programmer is now deceased.
Just sounds to me like he has not Put the Tiny Bootloader along with the Firmware, and now even with a deceased programmer, he cannot flash the new Firmware over via RS232.

Yes, when the new Firmware's are released (For the pic), without the Bootloader (Tiny), you would *NEED* a programmer to update the firmware.
Thats where the Bootloader comes in, it receives new firmware via RS232, and flashes the chip automatically.
And i think that is where the Original poster has lucked out.
Of course, the PIC replacement that has been announced, can be flashed via USB 1.1

All the assembled Minimigs manufactured by aCube and sent to the retailers have Tiny Bootloader installed on the PIC which allows it to be updated via the serial port.
The original batch from aCube (mine included) didn't have Tiny Bootloader installed, but aCube replaced the PICs free of charge through the vendors as part of their waranty (yes, you have a waranty!!!).

So I need a serial capable machine... Hm, I think my amiga is the only one. Does it do?

its better for me to send it to someone that also owns a minimig and test the pic before he send it back to me :P
otherwise i have a non working pic..
and yes i did only program the plain firmware on the pic cause i thought i can program it whenever i want

I thought someone had died! :-x
Of course Minimig, Dennis and Acube Rock!

Well hopefully the PIC of the one you've bought is already flashed with the new core. If not, there are very cheap USB serial port adapters. Here's one that even comes with a null modem cable as part of the package:

Thanks to The Daddy for finding that link. :-)
