Title: z3fastlane ROM
Post by: orange on September 08, 2008, 08:37:49 PM
I have just bought OTP EPROM 27C256 for fastlane, but it seems its 200ns (20JC), will that be too slow?

Raplh Babel would know for sure  :-) , but I thought at least the drivers in the ROM for most boards were copied to memory during Autoconfig(c), as opposed to Kickstart which is normally left in ROM.

Why would Ralph know? Did he work on the Fastlane?

Since when? Kickstart never ever did that afaik, not even for 16 bit ROMs on 32 bit machines...

The photos I checked show 120 and 150 ns ROMs, so 200 ns might be too slow.  :-(

He's talking about MAPROM / BlizKick on accelerators where they copy kickstart to fastRAM and run from there.

Does anyone know where the upgraded z3 fastlane ROM can be purchased?  I don't have access to an EPROM programmer or the code. :-(

I can supply new v8.5 ROMs for the Fastlane for AU$12 each, including freight.
Email me (http://amiga.serveftp.net) for more details.

He wasn´t talking about Kickstart ROMs, only drivers residing in ROMs on Zorro-cards, like the Fastlane.

Well I finally got a BUNCH of those 27c256 from Germany, all 200ns. They seem ok in Willem, program&verify work nice. If someone want's one give me the address (can't guarantee it'll work, haven't tried in fastlane)
