Hello all
I have just got an A4000 that has an 030 and an FPU as standard on the CPU card running at 25MHz. Is it worth while upgrading the CPU card to one with an 040 at 25MHz? Any downsides at all?? And if I wanted to run an older game would relokick be of any help if it's incompatible?
Thank you
Martin

Upside is that workbench and the overall feel of the computer could increase 2x-4x with a good 040 accelerator (more with an 060 accelerator) especially one with fast RAM.
Downside is that the 030 is more compatible for WHDload games than 040 but only just. The large speed increase is more than worth it.
If you are still using floppy disks and tools like relokick with an A4000 then you are MAD!
Invest in a copy of http://www.whdload.de and then grab pre-installed hard-drive versions of your games off the interweb. (search for KGWHD)
You should also look into the Workbench patches such as SystemPatch or WCP etc. plus SFS file-system as your A4000 is undoubtedly running slower than it need!

The board I am looking at is the A3640. It's certainly not all singing / dancing with space for ram!
I will be looking to WHDload. I just thought relokick was still the in thing ! 8-)
I have/will be ordering a 4gb flash card to replace the rather noisy hard disk, once arrived will play a bit more. For now though, very happy. My first 4000!!
