Hi,
I am finishing my wonderful A3000 system... :-D
and I noticed a problem (!)... I have the HD attached to the CS MkIII and... the HD led does not light when I use the HD.
I think it should be normal but I prefer to ask if there is a way to make the led working with the CS... WITHOUT ANY HW MODIFICATION...
Thanx

Do you mean the stock yellow LED on the 3000's face plate? That LED only indicates SCSI action on the built in SCSI bus, it won't indicate activity elsewhere. It's a real simple thing though, to run a plug/wire from the CSMKIII SCSI to the yellow LED. I think it has an LED out jumper, but not sure.

At least those HDs I have do have LED output pins - I prefer individual LEDs to see what's happening.

the CS-MKIII (and the CS-PPC) has pins to connect the led there, so you can see disk activity... they are next to the scsi connector, I made this pic:

The answer is simple. Just run the original hard Drive LED block to the 2 pins next to the SCSI III port on the CS.
*Note*
LED's have an Anode & a Cathode. Get them the wrong way round & the LED will not light.
If you get it the wrong way round, it shouldn't do any harm.
Spin the block & it should all be "Flash-a-rama" for you! :-)
Not sure if the A3000 uses a 3 wire block for 2 wires like the A4000, so getting the block on could be a sod without a mod! ;-)
If you still want your A3000's SCSI to flash as well, you're going to have to fit another LED to the Miggys front panel.
As zipper said earlier, it's nice to have individual LED's per Drive, then you really know what's going on with your rig.
