Is AOS4.1 going to be available for Classic Amigas with Phase5 PPC boards, or just AmigaOne hardware?
-
There is no retail version for Classics- just AmigaOne currently.
-
Chris,
Not long now- thanks for your order!
-
So really what is the point if there is no hardware to support the OS.

Hi Vlabguy1,
The Amiga market moves very fast. I ordered my A1 during the earlybird special sometime around 08/03, Software Hut. Good Shop.
There is some good stuff about to happen, I feel it in me bones. Look sharp!
Chris
edit: clarification
-
Chris,
you pre-ordered in 2003?? I have spent many a dollar at Software Hut, from way back til about Six months ago. So I know it a good shop.
So you really think there is new Hardware on the horizon..
that will take advantage of Amiga OS4 and 4.1?

OS4.0 Classic + 0S4.1 = OS4.1 Classic
Maybe....

The Amiga market moves very fast.
That has to be the funniest statment ever!
I know you ment snapping up hardware that is capable of running anything, but it is still really funny
-
Well Im hoping OS4.1 will run on my CD32 + SX1 +FMVcard combo.

You know it, You must be on your toes around here to get some of the "goods".
Read a little "extrapolate" into the press release on OS4.1, There is more there than meets the eye.
Keep an eye on SAM. We may be in for a surprise.
Natami will be the next item. Clearly a replacement for old hardware.
Chris
-
Ahem...What is SAM?
If somebody could write a hack akin to the Moana files, to run AOS4.0 or AOS 4.0 on an X86 machine.....that'd be great!!!!
- Cynk
-
OS4.1 on Sam.... I'd expect some news on that regard during Pianeta Amiga later this month.
-
Im getting Error 403 Forbidden on both Amigakit links and the shop itself :-( :-o
Hodgkinson.

If a settlement is reached in November we should hopefully hear about new contracts being signed for OS4 on Sam440 and other hardware.
If not, then the best hope is that Elbox finally get the SharkPPC out, because that falls within the terms of "Target-Hardware" under the 2001 agreement.

http://www.amigakit.co.uk/ works, Can and Europe links don't.
-
Today we can buy a two "different" OS4.x but we don't have hardware...
In past we got PPC hardware no system...
In this case we will get new hardware in about 10 years from now ;).

Not any more, they got .uk as well now.

Ahem, iirc back when BPPC and CSPPC boards were released, you could run AmigaOS3.X on both of them. For PPC support, there was both official (PowerUP) and unofficial (WarpUP) solution (although for some weird reason, it turned out to be the unofficial one, that became most popular)
And not long after the boards were released, first versions of MorphOS also became available.
-
I think beacue powerup was nowhere near as fast as warpos
-
UK Site seems to be back up again (Not tried anything major out though). Not too long ago there was all sorts of errors at the top of the page about cache and one thing and another, but they seem to be sorted out now ;-) :pint:
I was getting worried earlier seeing the domain advertising twaddle on there reminiscent of websites that have bit the dust  :nervous: Nice to see you again, Amigakit!
Hodgkinson.
-
Our US server crashed but all problems are resolved and we are up and running.
-

So it was all about the general (expected) suckiness of first PPC software?
Well I never noticed any noticeable speed difference between the two, but to me, warpos software seemed generally less stabile.
Shouldn't come as a surprise, as there are bugs that were never fixed. The one that prevents glquakewos from working on BPPC boards (except with MorphOS, which doesn't implement that particular bug)
No idea if someone added some workarounds to glquake later, but the point is the bug is still there.

if 4.1 is released for classic,it would be nice if it support the Blizzard PPC SCSI.
