Hello
I have downloaded and installed the UAE pack from http://classicwb.abime.net/index.htm . Problem is that when I use the hard file it asked me to insert WB 3.0 disk. If I do that on the main screen all it does is load the workbench and not the hard file.
So how do I 'insert' a disk that is being asked for without it booting from that disk?
Thanks

Once you have booted and it asks for the disk, press F12 to bring up the WinUAE menu. Pick the disk and click OK. A few moments later the 'amiga' will spot the disk.
PS I'm assuming you are using WinUAE.

Yep, using WinUAE.
It amazing, it was that simple. Thank you tonyyeb
...also, can I format a 40 or 80gig HD in Winuae, install WB or use one of those hard files and set the disk up for use in a real Amiga ?

Yes you can. But you dont add it as a hard file. On the hard drives page click add hard drive (assuming you have the hard drive connected to the PC). It has to be either already an Amiga configured drive or have no PC partitions on it for it to work. Choose the drive from the list (make sure you tick the read/write box). Then boot into a workbench and run HDToolBox. Create the partitions you want, reboot WinUAE and then format the partitions. You can install workbench on your new partitions and then transfer to a real Amiga.
Best to set a smallish partition for workbench incase the real Amiga isn't upto date enough to cope with large partition sizes (say 500mb).

This is the problem I am having. I still cant configure the drive properly in my A1500 to use all the space, even though I have the Buddah card.
Not sure how to format a hard drive so I can start from scratch on a PC without it making a partition.

What version Kickstart do you have in the A1500?

I have version 3.1 and 1.3 via ROM switcher

Various versions of the HDToolBox actually "lie" about the capacity of the drive when initializing it. That's due to a math bug in the HDToolBox (not using 64bit math).
So it could well be that the drive is all there, even though HDToolBox claims smaller capacity.

I have used HDinst but after installing WB 3 and upgrading to 3.9, it failed...looked like it stopped installing halfway (mentioned in a previous post).
Anyway I have just got the WinUAE working with the Classic Workbench hard file, but its asking to insert HD1, I cant find HD1 in the download...where would I find that?
