OK,
Cannot get a hold of the maker of FroggerNG.
Have not been invited to join the mail-list after signing up.
68K version still crashes.
Does anyone have a working 68k version and can you send me your .codecs and .prefs file?
In fact I'd like a full directory tree listing of your install so I can find out what is missing from mine.
Thanks.

Looks like an excuse to fire up an A4000 and use CyberGrab and Cyber-Photogenics ;-)

Unfortunately it was installed a long time ago and I don't remember anything about it  :-D
My FroggerNG drawer contains 3.9MB but will zip up to a 1.7MB LHA file. Just send me a PM if you would like it (minus my reg codes of course :-)) :pint:

FroggerNG on a 030?
AFAIK 68K codecs are for 040/060

He's using an 030 :inquisitive:
Thanks for that link Framiga. I've grabbed some codec updates to throw into my FroggerNG drawers :pint:

your wellcome! :-)

OK.
The FroggerNG docs say that you can use 68K or PPC but there is not mention of a 040/060.
Where do you see this fact?
FroggerNG trashed my system thoroughly.
I have to recover from a backup now.
So, I guess the docs are wrong.

Is Frogger the best all round video player and is it still being worked on?
-
I think amp2 is very good...
link somewhere, hold please....
Here we go...

Didnt realise it was PPC only though...

Seriously now, 030 won't be playing anything but very low resolution mpeg.
-
Frogger was always buggy and slow for me on the 68k. Riva is fast and stable for MPEG. It might even be usable on a fast '030. Demo is on Aminet. Moovid or Action (same program) are fast and stable for AVI and QT.

frogger68 have no key for working very low.

@ bash64
Sorry if it was my FroggerNG drawer that trashed your system mate. It worked fine in the A4000/060. But I had no luck when I tried it today in an A1200/030 running OS3.9 (I couldn't get any picture at all and basically just kept getting "Software failures with SUSPEND or REBOOT) :-(

Just downloaded and tried it and it's fantastic thank you ddniUK :pint: It could be the best video playback I've ever seen on an Amiga. Pity it can't play AVI or other files though. I've got SoftCinema but I'm seriously lacking codecs as for most videos I only get the audio. MooVid seems pretty good too but again I need to find codecs.

I bought Moovid for ten bucks like two days ago online.
It won't play a modern avi.
Complains about either 8/16/24/32 bit being unsupported.
or it complains about avi_XVID compression.
I am running on a 16bit cgx 1024x768 screen.
I have a gvp spectrum video card.
I get the unsupported error on ACTION also.
I found Thrivx_Moovid (for 3ivx) but it gives off the same types of errors.
I have 3ivx and opendivx installed.

@bash64
I sense from the link in this thread you started with FroggerNG V2.07?
Why not 1st try the archive on aminet which has an 030 version? (V1.63)
Perhaps you can isolate your issues in this way.

Uhhhhh.......
Well, you always want to start with the latest, but maybe not in this case.
Eight years ago when I was big into Amiga I used that version with Frogger040. Not enough codecs at the time, but did mpegs.
:-D

Are codecs still being developed for any of the video players on the Amiga?
Also, am I right in thinking that you really need 2 video players. 1 for AVI/QT and another for MPEG?

For 68k? Probably not.

At minimum 2.
PPC players are still actively developed.
Example:MPlayer Leitmotiv version has over 200 video codecs and over 100 audio codecs.
Even at that you still need either FroggerNG, SoftCinema, or AMP2 with linux codecs to cover IV3/4/5 etc.

thanks number6 :pint:
It would be great to know all the players that are out there, sort out what codecs are available and exactly what these players are capable of :-)
I've just been having a go of the WarpOS version of FroggerNG and so far it plays .avi .mpg. .mov .asf .vob .divx
I also found a nice GUI for Frogger and FroggerNG. It's very similar to the great GUI for the MPEG player Amp2. Apparently Amp2 can play DVD's so I'll have to check that out.

Anyone got links to where we can get codecs for SoftCinema, MooVid and any other players? Can just take codecs from one player and put them in the drawer of another player?
-
@A4000_Mad
Anyone got links to where we can get codecs for Soft Cinema and MooVid?
For AMP2, SoftCinema, and FroggerNG V2.05 ONLY:
http://xanim.polter.net/linuxELFppc.html
The internal codec for IV3 in Frogger V2.07 and MPlayer as well, is not correct. This is documented in Frogger, iirc.
MooVid homepage has some links as well:
http://www.dfmk.hu/~torokl
I've tested all of the GUI's available, and although I find good points to all, I think the "argue" GUI for FroggerNG will offer you the utmost in options, if that is what you are after.
