Yeah, I looked at it to install it on an Amiga 4000, but while there seems to be "instrcutions" for installing it on classic AGA machines, the instructions consist of formatting your hard drive using the install disk and copying a large compressed file to your boot drive.  There has to be a hell of a lot more to it than that, because that isn't going to work.

I used OS3.9 instead.

AmigaSYS 4 AGA he did not appear yet. (soon)

Use it in the right side menu on the official web page (Amiga button), more infos, install, hw req, etc.

AmigaSYS 3 AGA to real Amiga 1200/4000 machines who can be reached since 2007 already, downloadable.

I saw that, but the install explaination is as follows:

Quote
BOOTABLE PARTITION:

Amiga:

Put the Install 3.0/3.1 disk into the DF0: drive and when the disk loaded, start HDTOOLBOX (INSTALL:HDTOOLS/HDTOOLBOX). Check, wich is the bootable partition, format it and copy the AmigaSYS to there.

You can make partitions with the program. If you want to use another partition for the operatong of AmigaSYS then, you only have to uncheck the BOOTABLE option, and check it on another partition. This is useful, when you want to keep your current system.

The file you end up downloading consists of a file for running on UAE and a HDF file, both of which are of no use for installing on a stock classic machine without using a PC.

Either I'm missing the correct place to download a classic only install file, or there isn't an easy way to get this onto classic machines (which is a shame because it looks great).

What the classic needs is a simple LHA archive which can be unpacked on the Amiga and then copied over a OS3.x installation.

I've managed in the past to put this on my classic A1200, and after finding myself in the same predicament as previous posters  devised this personal solution:

First, I downloaded the archive from the site using my PC, extracted it using WinRAR then copied to a CD.

The spare miggy 2gb HD that I keep handy was partitioned in two then formatted. After which  OS 3.1, CD-ROM drivers and a copy of DOpus were installed on HD1: and was used to boot using the boot manager.

Copied everything over from the CD to HD0: and rebooted. After reinstalling the CD drivers back on HD0: plus all my programs like DPaint, Protext, WHDLoad, etc I used the DH1: partition as a semi-permanent storage for a Quarterback backup of AmigaSYS.

But yes, I agree that there needs to be a more simple way of installing AmigaSYS. My method is far too long a process and not exactly easy for those less learned in the way of the miggy and/or HD installing/partitioning.

You did not look round on the web page :)

WinUAE HDF does not exist only. HDF and LZX are downloadable. It true the description WinUAE version presents it. But it LZX for the advanced users recommended.

Download section:

AmigaSYS 3 Plus AGA Amiga 1200/4000 for Begginers HDF
AmigaSYS 3 Plus AGA Amiga 1200/4000 for Advanced users LHA

LHA=LZX :) Write mistake :)

To the new version I plan new description. I will deviate better LHA version. The next version not LZX, but will be LHA.

ok thanks for clearing that up DaryASYS :-D  now my question is can I download the lha to my PCMCIA card and install it onto my dh0 without having to repartition it :-?

It LZX the setup of a version (approximately):

1, transfer it onto Amiga, you are on Amiga download it.
2, TIP: (If there are 2 partitions, but only one can be bootable (ex:Dh0). Do it the 2. (ex dh1) partition being files save it into one dir (ex: create new folder name Myfiles), move your all files into Dh1:Myfiles.
3, unpack AmigaSYS3AGA.lzx into Dh1.
4, start Hdtoolbox, settings: unbootable Dh0, bootable Dh1

Reset...

Amiga booting from Dh1 :)

I wrote this down because of that. Because your present system remains in this manner. Many people like it the HDF otherwise. :) 2. point only idea. I got accustomed to it in this manner.

I do not believe in the fact that he will be a trouble. HDF version more simply achievable (according to me).

Workbench 3.1 and Extas 3.1 disk prepare it. :D

LZX with a version usual beneath trouble like that (only the in version 3, 4 repaired already), that they get lost the attributums RWED (LZX settings removed).

If you receive a message like that Menu: not executable write it: Execute menu , later execute 1.

May be good will be, the unpacking depends on your parameters. Rather only sounded. :)

Ah cheers!  I did download that LZX version, but my PC wanted nothing to do with it and when I searched for something on the PC side to unarchive it so I could simply put the files on a memory stick and pass it to the Amiga via the Deneb card then all I found were software packages that needed purchasing/registering.

Please make the next one an LHA archive and I look forward to trying it.  Like I said, the screen shots look great and had me drooling.  :-)

I see some "Final" pictures and system map info posted recently on the site, hope that means AmigaSYS 4 AGA will be available for download soon.

I've vowed to not redo my 1200's hard drive until it is.
