Title: Where's the dock?
Post by: mauidj on August 09, 2008, 02:27:38 AM
After some head scratching I finally have a miggy running on my MacBook Pro  :-D
It's awesome.
I am running it in the AF 3.9 workbench.
When I first boot it comes up in a 800x600 window and the dock is right there on the bottom.
However when I change the size to my native 1680x1050 in ScreenMode, the dock disappears.
And I can't find a dock icon or any other sign of it anywhere.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.
Aloha...Ray

Since the 3.9 version of Amidock is a commodity, you could try running the commodities "exchange" program to see if it is hidden or running on the native Amiga resolution screen that has been hidden by opening a new Picasso 96-compatible screen or something like that.

Anyway, the dock is not as useful as you might think coming from a Mac background.  I used ToolsDaemon to add menus to the top of the Workbench screen and an AREXX script that would translate ToolsDaemon preferences files into WB 3.9 AREXX commands.  If I really needed a command, I could give it a keyboard shortcut in the menu.

Found it.  :-)
many thanks.

I do use my Mac dock for launching apps and opening recent and often used files. So I will be interested to see how useful this is.

Right now I'm just finding my way around the whole AF / OS3.9 environment.

Aloha!
