Hi,
I have found my old Amiga 500+ and decided to try to switch it on to see if it still works! Amazingly it still does! The A500+ I have came into my family when I was still 7years old and I still used to play with it when I was 12years (if not more). After that we packed it up and I never saw it again. Until now of course. Now I am trying to see what I can do to take more care of my A500+ and see what interesting stuff I can do with it :)
Regards,
Sim085

Welcome back!

Hi sim085,
Welcome to A.Org :pint:
The A500+ was my first Amiga too. I then bought one for my Grandad, who was mad about aircraft, so that he could enjoy the flight simulator 'Airbus 320 Volume II' :-)

You shouldn't be surprisrd that these things still work. Commodore quality for you. :-) Welcome to the Amiga world mate.

Is the A500+ the one with the battery on the trapdoor expansion module ? If so, it will be worth checking that before it causes too much damage :-)
-
Yes it is :) I have read lots of post on the clock battery already and I am planning to remove it this week (but not planning to put another instead for the time being). Unfortunately I only read about the leaking clock battery last week and so I am not sure if it already did any damage! Although I am assuming that there is no damage since the computer still switches on normally!

99.9999% it did. As someone said: "Commodore Quality" baby!
OK, to be fair the machines were great, the components used sucked due to Commodore being such cheap asses.

As mentioned, remove the battery and clean the board :-)

If you are using machines getting on for 24 years old, I don't think anybody can complain about "Commodore quality"
Nothing lasts forever, but Amigas are better than most products for longevity.
