i installed the minigl package from os4depot onto my very fresh basic os4 classic partition, but nothing seems to work. demos or for that matter blankers i downloaded either do not start or mostly give me recoverable error in an endless loop.
is that possibly due to my hardware setup i mentioned up in the thread subject?

I get similar errors with minigl on os3.9
It seems to be due to my running out of Voodoo mem
Dropping WB screenmode to 640x480 and removing background pictures solves most issues.

Do any Warp3D applications work on your system? MiniGL is supposed to work on any system that has a Warp3D supported graphics card.

A bit more information about your system might be helpful. Are you using a Mediator board? If so, are you using the Amiga OS 4 drivers, or the drivers that came with the Mediator board?

im using mediator4kdi in a regular a4k desktop. i run elbox libs 4 voodoo and pci since i use network card on pci. i just installed minigl and do not tried much else although i downloaded warp3dwrapper before (i think thats what w3d appz need to run under os4) and tried some demos from ada, what didnt function.
i must admit i havnt succeed to get w3d to run under 3.9 on the same system earlier, even if i recall it working before i put ppc in it, that means probably before the warpos installation, but thats another story..

I asked about classic OS4 users and MiniGL over on AW.net (http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=26606&start=0&post_id=450443&order=0&viewmode=flat&pid=450425&forum=32#450443), and I have one confirmed user of MiniGL with an A4000 and Voodoo 3.
Are the Warp3D drivers that you are using the OS4 ones, or from Elbox (or whatever the OS 3.x drivers are)?
Here are a few things to try:
- use all OS4 drivers (graphics-card, Warp3D, and everything else)
- use all Elbox drivers (including Warp3D)

aww!! i havnt realized voodoo3 does only 16bit in 3d mode. also my workbench res might be too high. i usually use 1280x1024 in 24bit. sounds like i ve been expected too much from the hardware. 3.x w3d demos open mostly their own screens as far i recall, but i assume gfx mem stays occupied with other open screens so maybe it overflows or such. lemme check that when back @ home. otherwise i will probably really try to swap the drivers.

well, i havnt much time nor attention today morning but as far as ich checked the prob is not an issue of screen resolution. what i noticed so far is the system reports mostly an 80...03 guru. and after short soft_reset the machine hangs with a lila screen on rgb what i suppose to be some sort of debugging message on classics.
salute u, we going to bed (in the morning)!

The guy with a similar system to you uses the native OS4 drivers, so it's worth trying that. I'm guessing that this may be a bit of a pain for you, because, if you're using the Elbox drivers then you probably have PCI hardware that requires the graphics card based DMA hack.

you were completely right. minigl runs on original os4 drivers. quite impressive for an amiga. lol. if only it would work with elbox because i must rely on their architecture for my purposes. i will look into that

Did you make any progress with the Elbox drivers and MiniGL?

I know is my question is off topic... but... I'm using a Voodoo and Mediator and when I want to use a nice background picture... (high resolution) when the picture is loaded...I'm losing like 4-5 mb of FAST RAM!? Why this picture is not in Voodoo memory?
It's really annoying for me... I have 32Mb RAM so when you take 5 Mb, than 8 Mb for "buffer", couple of megabytes for other patches... I have left like... 14 megabyte of Ram?? :-?
When I try open .jpg picture of size around 2-3Mb, my system don't have enough memory?!?
HELP!! :-D

@hans_:
they havnt reported back on this matter up till now. i do remind them now and maybe will be just calling them next days (they are most supportive on the phone.lol). i work on 3.9 at the moment so it went a bit off my focus.
