Title: Keyrah installation in a dead Commodore 64 (pics and video)
Post by: redrumloa on July 30, 2008, 02:46:47 AM
First you source a Keyrah 8bit (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180258072556&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT) and a dead Commodore 64.

Now gut the poor dead C64, I won't show you the gory details of this step. Next you install the Keyrah with 2 screws as shown below.

Now plug in the keyboard connector and LED.

Now close up the case and you are done!! Go to your PC or Mac and plug in your new USB keyboard!!

THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyUalpt-Qmg) crappy Youtube video shows this keyboard in action, running Vice under Ubuntu. It is great to use this with an emulator, but you can also use it in any way you wish in any operating system. You do not need an emulator. Don't forget, the Keyrah has 2 old fashioned joystick ports to use your old REAL joystick.

Enjoy!!

your ebay keyrah listing has something about a joystick in it that confused me. did you goof up when modifying a joystick description into a keyrah one?

No, the Keyrah has 2 joystick ports. You can plug old school (atari style) joysticks into the keyrah and use them as PC joysticks.
