Aside of all the extra work required...
...what would be the down side to this?

@XDelusion
It's said to be too complicated and/or performance-hitting to address the different endianess, IIRC - thus it would break the compatibility to legacy software.
If there would be more developers left in the Amiga area, I'd have considered it interesting to just give it a try, i.e. some developers joining MorphOS Team to port it to x86 and see how many users adopt it despite not being able to run 68k software.
But on the other hand there is AROS already, so it would make more sense, IMHO, to bring its usability towards the one of MorphOS.

Indeed, I really hope AROS does move forward and that more devs take a serious and passionate interest in it.
Either that or Haiku that is. :)

if you port MOS to x86, then it would just be AROS. I guess its what makes it unique is that its still clinging to PPC architecture.
This damn EFIKA board w/MOS2 is just awesome though. Best $99 I've ever spent. Once I come back from Cancun in about 2 weeks I'll look at registering MOS. Too bad I missed the cheaper price deadline...oh well.. its still worth it.
