Hi Guys,
I recently acquired a PowerTower with A4000D and PCI busboard. The tower works fine with the fitted A3640 card but the original owner gave me his DCE Cyberstorm card even though he had problems with it.
I tried the card in the system and got nothing but an initial gray screen. The front panel lights for hard drive and power didn't even come on. I've tried the card with and without RAM. And I populated each slot with same size/manufacturer SIMMs. Then I tried just two slots starting at 0 from but both from another but same manufacturer.
It seems like the card is good and dead. Are there any repair options available in addition to the Amiga Center in France? Can he now do repairs to the 604e(replace)?
Thanks for the info.

I'm most likely going to be putting up my Phase 5 CS PPC 233/060 on Ebay this weekend. You can see pictures of it in my gallery, the card is flawless and runs OS4 very well. I'm still trying to talk myself out of selling it:-(
CS PPC 233/060 (http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=2415)
CS PPC 233/050 mounted on A4000T MB (http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=2416)
I know it doesn't help with your card, but it is something:-).

if the system doesn't starts at all, most likely is the 68K part (or better the 060 socket) and is fixable.
Try to push gently on the 060 chip during the boot .... if it starts, is a cold solder/s on the 060 socket.
Good luck!

I'm sure it will sell for more than I can justify to the missus but thanks for the heads up. I've seen them go on eBay for $1200+ USD.
I'm not saying it's unfair but she monitors my hobby closely. :-D

Thanks so much for the info. So it sounds like the problem might be something the French Amiga center could fix. I know he can handle all of the 060 side and capacitors, clock crystals, etc.
Interesting, I might have to shoot him and email for a quote.
Thanks again.

Edit: shoot him an email for a quote.

Be aware that if you shoot him, he may be reluctant to fix your card. :madashell:

Naah, I was just going to use one of these....

I bet he's got a better sense of humor than that.
:-D Besides, I'd never do harm to somebody who repairs Amigas - far, far too valuable to the community.
