few days ago I bought prometheus from amigakit for my a4000D, I installed everything and works well (voodoo 3 & RTL8029 Ethernet)
the point is I want to add usb pci and sound card to promethus, to use these devices i have to install open pci
I installed
openpci 2.1 library
prometheus 2.5 library
openpci rtl8039.device
open pci fm801.ahi drive
when I try to query 8039.device in order learn mac address from miamidx it gives error, "cant find openpci.library 2.x" when I checked with snoopdos it successfluy read this library
when I downgrade the opnepci.library from 2.1 to 2.0 "no bus find" message comes to screen
so how can i solve this problem

Have you updated to the latest flashrom (http://phase5.a1k.org/files/FlashUpdates-26042002.lha)?

That is not for this hardware!! You are getting the Prometheus confused with the G-REX PCI.

Is your Prometheus firmware upgraded to support DMA?
If it isn't, you may have trouble with OpenPCI (not really tried it) and you certainly won't get anywhere with cards that require DMA (such as sound cards, 100baseT network cards etc.)

AFAIK no such firmware ever existed. Michael Boehmer of E3B worked on one but it was never released.
He's trying to use a network card. They do not (AFAIK) require DMA.

It could be that you need the rtl8029 card, not the rtl8039. I'll have to take a look at my prometheus when I get home. And alexh is correct, so far there is no update for DMA cards available.

8029 works well, but in openpci there is 8039 driver, I tried to use it but not working
-
The 8039 card is 10/100MBit, so it needs DMA (10MBit cards don't, 100MBit ones do).
Hence why it's not working, probably.
I have an 8029 and a Voodoo III in my A4000 Prometheus, apart from the Catweasel I'm not sure what else works in it (maybe USB 1 cards might)

so is there any firmware that supports dma for prometheus, or is there any sound card and usb card that does not use DMA
-
There is, but you have to ask Michael Boehmer really nicely and then he might be able to help, but you need to send it away to be flashed. He's on the forums somewhere (certainly on other Amiga sites, probably here too), usually under the monker mboehmer_e3b or something I think.
Even then though it won't work in OS 4 (which is why in the end I didn't bother).

Correct-a-mundo! :-D

Michael was working on a new firmware version but nothing has been release as yet. Spirantho is correct, once a new firmware is available, your prometheus would have to be flashed by some one with the proper tools and know-how.

Michael told me that the firmware is there and it's working. But there was still a little work to be done and he didn't have the time to set up a release. Additionally, the drivers needed some work.
However, the cards would have to be sent to Michael to do the upgrade, they're not 'field upgradable'.
I promised not to bug him for 6 months in late January, so I'll try to get in touch again in a couple of weeks.
