Title: Workaround for the IBrowse/MUI4 bug
Post by: Matt_H on July 10, 2008, 05:30:03 AM
If you've been using IBrowse under MorphOS with MUI4, you've probably noticed that big text entry boxes (like those used to type messages for posting here at Amiga.org) often appear completely black, depending on your specific MUI settings.

The default settings for MorphOS PowerUP were fine for me, whereas most of the presets built in to MorphOS 2 presented the problem.

I *think* I've finally figured out what setting is responsible for it. It seems to be a problem with the way IBrowse handles MUI's string class. MUI4 introduced the option to allow objects to appear a percentage brighter or darker than the object on which they're placed. IBrowse chokes, and presents a solid black and illegible gadget, regardless of the change in brightness.

The solution is to pick a definitive color in MUI's String page for the "Container" and "...activated" gadgets. Probably "...readonly" as well to be extra-safe.

Works globally or within IBrowse's settings alone.
