What's a good way to clean gunk off of cables? Is there a good kind of modern chemical that everyone's using nowadays? I'd like a general solution, but my immediate concernis the kind of gunk that you might get on your mouse cable as is rubs back and forth across the edge of your desk. (The same stuff that gets on those little pads on the bottom of an amiga mouse.)
I hear mention of battery leakings. Is there a battery on the A1000, A500 or A1200 that I'd need to worry about replacing?

There are no batteries on the a500, or a1200 as there is no RTC. a1000 i doubt it, not sure tho. AFAIK a500+ had a battery tho, so beware. Basically its on models that hold the clock time.

Try an eraser for the mouse pads, maybe just a
damp rag or a little glass cleaner for the
cables...and there's always Mr. Sheen..;)

But if you have an accelerator or a memory card for an A500, A1000 or A1200 there'll be a battery. Mine has leaked so I had to solder a wire to make it work again (of course, the card has since been modded to death anyway by me starting the long walk towards replacing 040 with 060 :-) )
