Title: Ide-fix express problems
Post by: theformula on July 02, 2008, 07:08:10 PM
Hi I am attempting to get an ide fix express working on my A1200. I have installed os 3.9 on my harddisk. I have tired to boot with the ide adapter not connected to gayle and it works fine but when  I connected to the gayle adapter (with both jumpers) I boot after some time and get insert disk screen. Then I boot from floppy disk and my hard drive is not show. I am using a 2.5 inch drive from amigakit would this be the problem? I have considered formatting the drive but i dont wanna loose everything.

I have been trying to get this to work for ages and I cannot find any other posts on it anywhere (apart from me   ) and I lost the instructions

What happens if you remove the jumpers? Does it boot ok?
I've had problems and it turned out that my HD was too old to support the advanced PIO modes.

Then it doesn't boot. The definition of booting you have in your mind is wrong.
Anyhow, i can't think of what goes wrong. I would have said you to check the lenght of the IDE cable, but in your case it shouldn't be this, as you are using an internal HD.

i am thinking I might grab a 3.5 one off my mate and see if it works. I will just keep trying loads I dont mind as I can shove this 2.5 hd into another miggy.
