It's been a while since we have had coffee chat on here. There has been a lot of chat over the past year about court battles and a whole lot less casual talk about just about any sort of fluff. When I joined a few years back, there was a lot of fluff -- kinda like the stuff would would chat up at the local shop.
Well, this post is simply for that so let me start off. As I write this, I am watching the latest episode of Top Gear -- just saw the piece where the stunt guy jumped.... WARNING SPOILER... a gap in the road while spinning and crashed miserably... that man takes quite a beating!
What is your fav episode?

We're a bit behind in the episodes we see here in Oz (still in 2006!), but I think my favourite was when they compared the Monaro to the S-Type R Jag and the (pug-ugly) Chrysler 300C.
Guess what? The good old Aussie Monaro won! And even more satisfying was that it won a place in the heart of Clarkson! A rare car indeed!
Now all I need to do is get one for myself! :-)))
Cheers,
Mike.
P.S. Oh yeah, and also the episode where they turned a Reliant Robin into a Space Shuttle - that was the most surreal thing I've seen for ages. My eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing!

Think it was a best of challenges episode I saw recently where they crossed the English channel in home made amphibious vehicles. Great show.

I'm surprised nobody has talked about Battlestar Galactica on Sci-Fi. Its my fav show. I'm 4 shows behind but I downloaded them to my mp3/video player so I can get caught up. Its too bad this is the last season.

And what about Doctor Who? Davros is back!

Best show on TV in many years! Funny you should write about it today as my 14 year old son and I have been watching all of the miniseries and most of season 1 all day long. He had never seen it before and really likes it. I don't blame him, as it is sort of racy for a 14 year old boy (he will be 15 in August). I had been hooked on it since it first came out and have purchased season 1, 2 and 2.5. I watched most of season 3, but missed many episodes and have missed all of this final season. I am going to look to see if season 3 is available on DVD and buy it, then I will have to wait for a while to buy season 4.
I can't believe they are canceling the show and also don't know why it did not receive more press. It is a fantastic show and they could have gone on for much longer.
I wonder if there will be any spin-off series from it? It started out very strong and then seemed to struggle to keep up the pace and direction. I don't think the writer's could keep up the quality of each episode to match the intensity of the mini-series and first season.
If any of you have not seen Battlestar Galactica, it is a must see, but you must start at the beginning and see the mini-series first, then season 1, season 2, etc. Trying to start to watch it from anywhere in the middle will just confuse you and you will not enjoy it.

I've seen that on Youtube (we don't have the show here) Amazing. I've laugh for hours...

This has been moved to the Coffee House / General forum (CH/General)

I'm not impressed by the BSG remake, I liked the funky Egyptian motif of the original series

I understand what you mean about the Monaro, I felt the same way when he reviewed the Corvette. I think he likes it ;)
Yeah, the shuttle was wow! I hope they have some interesting adventures this year :)

I am a little behind it as well...
I have been watching for four years now. I can't seem to get behind any of the characters but I still watch. Starbuck is too wild and Adama never seems to enforce discipline, which for a military of the edge, a little now and then is expected.
I am curious to see how the Earth aspect plays out.

That one still amazes me!

So is the new BSG following the general plot line of the original?

Essentially, yes. There are a few changes in the characters, but the children still seem to drive the agenda of always being right ;) It's a wonder that they have made it this far, but I am still drawn to it.
