Title: WTB: SCSI cable (25pin - 25pin)
Post by: Tension on June 29, 2008, 09:44:20 PM
Has anybody got one of these for sale?  Preferably a high-quality shielded cable.

Thanks in advance.

Can I ask what application you want one for?

...As in , what are you connecting to what?

Cheers.  :-)

Connecting a Akai S3000xl Sampler to the Amiga (A2091)
The sampler is a 25-pin SCSI interface as well.

Thanks.

A DB25M to DB25M cable shouldn't be difficult to find. Don't know if SCSI has special requirements (twists and whatnot), but anything using such a cable likely operates at a low data rate.

The Sampler`s manual goes to great lengths to warn users to use a `High Quality` cable to avoid data corruption.  Plus, it`s old hardware these days.

Not sure what way it`s terminated either...

People don`t use enough SCSI these days.......

We should have these moulded SCSI cables available.

Well, that sort of cable wouldn't have have pass-through termination. (It's possible, but highly unlikely.) If your sampler has more than one SCSI port (possibly labled in, out, or through, similar to the MIDI ports, although it doesn't usually matter), then it likely requires external termination; otherwise, the device probably has terminators on-board.

Most if not all Amiga SCSI HBAs are old enough that the terminators are implemented as removeable resistor-packs.

If you're comparison shopping, many of these cables would have been advertised as SCSI cables for Macs and scanners. Back in the day, most "PC" scanners were bundled with ISA SCSI HBAs.

I`m going from Sampler >> Zip drive >> Amiga.

The Zip drive has 2 SCSI ports.  The Sampler & Amiga have one each.

Looks like you`re sorted Tension.
Nearest thing I have here is a 25 way to 50 Way Centronics.
Shout if you still need this.
