Hey ! ... Does anyone have one of those Sony PSX's (160 GB) near Denmark or Germany ? I want to buy one - Will pay fair - Or trade with one of my PS3's ... Write me.
EDIT.: A PSX is not a PS1 ...
-
2003 Sony PS2 based PVR. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSX_(DVR)) Japan only.
Never new this even existed.
How confusing! PSX is the original pre-release name for the PSOne. I would have never gotten used to it had it taken off.
-
Tried geting one of those for ages... good luck!!
Why not just use your PS3? DNLA Rocks!!!
-
I hate my PS3 ... It sucks :-) Nooootttt....
I just want the other thingy cos' it can Record DVD's and Record on HD
and play PS and PS2 games...!
And I like to have beautiful designed stuff nobody has :-P
-
It won't have a RF tuner compatible with Europe so you wont be able to pick up / record live Analog TV.
It doesn't have RGB input, or component input, just NTSC composite. So you wont be able to record much, at least not in colour.
It's going to suck really badly.
[Edit: Update]
Ok, it has an SVideo input (NTSC only) (http://www.sbcr.jp/vwalker/img/re03_050119_sony_01l.jpg) so slightly better quality B&W recordings :-)
You would be much better off making your own HTPC with a DVB card.
-
If you mean the first PlayStation console, I have one (with modchip) and 2 joypads. If you are interested pm me.

Just buy a cheap tvtuner/dvb card for your pc and you will have the best pvr ever.
You can even record digital broadcast stream if you have a dvb card, which means there will be zero recompression and no loss of quality. With that PSX box you will both suffer from digital-analog-digital artifacts thanks to conversion from analog to digital and recompression.

Isnt that what I said?? Sheesh!

Worse. Reports are that PSX-PVR TV capture doesn't work AT ALL with PAL signals. RF, composite and SVideo all reported not to work with PAL even B&W :-(

You have a different kind of electricity, you have a different kind of tv transmission, and you even speak a different language (that includes you too, England) and as I believe it was Buford T. Justice that said, "What we have here, is a failure to communicate."
:-P ;-)
Seriously though, I HATE that's it's so far that we've come technology wise, and yet "standards" barely apply all, to this day.
They can't even agree what is supposed to be displayed in a browser window, based on the 7? versions of HTML and derivatives!!!!!!

Another pointless post by Atheist.

Yes, wherever you are does all of that correctly. Everyone else does it wrong

What are you talking about!!1! His post is full of deep insight and advanced technological knowledge... You just can't understand because you don't have the cleverness!
Or the other one ;-)

I'm sure he's got a fixed IP address if a sysop felt the need to ban him permanently ;-)
The internet doesn't half bring out the freaks.

Well, if pointless posts were criteria for banning someone... I would have been banned long ago...
The internet doesn't half bring out the freaks.
That's why we are all hier after all...

Yeah, it would be so cool if Sony released a Playstation 3 with a Cell that had only 3 SPEs and one with 16 SPEs, and while they're at it, could also make a cheaper one with half the ram and a Cell running at 1.9 GHz.
Do you use 12 V batteries in your cars in Europe?
But yet you have 50 Hz 220 V in your homes. So, are there messageboards that promote these two warring camps?
One day, all these "standards" are going to bite us in the ass, and it wain't gonna be pretty.

You could also thank foreign people for the sweat they've shed to learn another language, to be able to communicate with you

@ Atheist
Have you sought professional help ?

Hi Speelgoedmannetje and others that speak another language,
I put those smilies there in reference to another language, but I see now that I should have separated that with a blank line. I was kidding about that.
-
In Europe, they don't have batteries in their cars. They have a crank in the front of the car that they have to turn. Also, they all wear top hats and monocles.

@ koaftder

That really made me laugh.
Did you know we also all throw our coats on puddles of mud to allow ladies to cross the road.
And when we say horse power we are really talking about the number of horses that we have attached to our carriages.
To make it easier for Atheist. A hours in canada would be called a moose.

:-? What are you talking about?
Do you use 12 V batteries in your cars in Europe?
Yeah, because even in europe the laws of physics still apply...
But yet you have 50 Hz 220 V in your homes. So, are there messageboards that promote these two warring camps?
I've been to Canada, lots of times... I sware that they entered the 21st Century the same time as Europe... give or take a few hours...
We have these wonderful things called "switching power supplies"... they will take any voltage from 100v to 250v and any frequenct from 50Hz to 60Hz... and output a stable voltage, DC current... The difference in voltage/frequency was cause by historical events that you can't go back in time and change... but the main supply is getting less and relavent now.
One day, all these "standards" are going to bite us in the ass, and it wain't gonna be pretty.
:-?
Technology is increasingly converging on global standards... the historical standards are becoming less relavant... I can run my MBP in German, Canada or the UK... with the same power supply (only requiring a physical adaptor)...

I've just come back from Singapore (the company that I work for has an office there) and while I was there I took the advantage to get a suitcase full of electronics and I managed to get two PSX PVR's. (Unboxed I'm afraid)
Are you still interested in one?
-
PM me alexh. I`m interested b4 the other guy! :-)
-
I already sent TheMud a PM but if he is not interested...
In Singapore they were a lot cheaper than I imagined. I never expected to see one, and then I thought being quite rare they'd be $$$$'s not the case.
