What Viper you have? There is bunch of 'em. Not from the same company (Elbox, DCE, Apollo, others).

Some (2) have provision to solder a second SIMM slot. If your board is the DCE Viper mkII, check just for cold joints in your new SIMM slot.

If the M-Tec E-Matrix (also rebadged DCE Viper MkV), look if you install the correct SIMM holder.

Hi,
I also have a Viper 1230, as far as I know it only accepts upto 16mb of memory. So two 8mb simms would work but not two 16mb simms

Back when I had a 1200 i got one of these cards. I thought it was dead after I put in 3.1 roms and it no longer booted my system when installed with RAM on it. I was later told the card didnt work correctly with 3.1, this could be thr problem?
