Hi Guys,
I was thinking that we could post a smilie here to let our fellow members know what mood we are in. A few words could be posted too of course. We could share in a members laughter or happiness, or offer advice to a member whose mood is sad or angry.
:-)
The daughter I nearly lost in a car crash is staying the night and I know that she will be safe here with her family till morning.
:-)
I changed the HDD of my A4000 to PFS3 and pfsdoctor has fixed a partition full of valuable information that had shown up as HD5:Uninitialised. Phew!
(both of the above are true)
-
I met up with Moto today in London, had a great day!
:-)
-
That's really great to hear of you guys meeting up. Had you and Moto met in person before? What did you get up to? Besides Moto I've only met one other member in person. One from Worthing brought his problem A1200 to my house and we managed to fix it. Another more distant member sent his hard drive through the post for me to fix and post back to him. The member Nyle Landas insisted on sending me a 2.5" hard drive all the way from America as a gift to say thank you for the help I had given him via E-mail 8-)
-
I've got a cold and a case of Windows rage, so my smiley is :-x with a little :headwall:
BTW...I've met a few a.org members from Melbourne.
-
:-)
Another smile for meeting up with bloodline! An even nicer guy in person than online!
Very tired after getting home at 01:30 this morning
:-x
Annoyed at the obnoxious crowd at the Radiohead gig last night
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
But very happy I got to see my favourite band, who were amazing live and played a great set!

Moto had a gig, I had a meeting... He suggest we meet before our repsective appointments!
What did you get up to?
You make it sound so seedy! :-) Drinking mostly, got off to an early start and then Moto let me bore him with my short attention span and inability to shut up... Frankly he's lucky we didn't drink coffee, otherwise I doubt I would have let him speak at all! :-)

Yeah A.org is a great community, I even love the nutters :-)

It's a good job you're not dull, otherwise I would have told you to shut up :-P BTW, I had forgotten that being in London gives me black bogies. Are yours like that permanently? ;-)

Yeah :-(
@A4000_MAD
Never met Moto before (or any other A.orger), but I'm really glad I did, it was one of the most enjoyable days I've had in ages... and it didn't involve any German women or socks! :nervous:

SHUT UP! :-P Just kidding, I like to listen, and analyse...
bloodline wrote:

Yeah :-(
How horrid. And it's harder to disguise them as they show up when you flick them on the floor! Though they would blend in rather well with the dog's fur...

But real moods. Well, I've had a presentation of a project I've done this quarter... (on my own :nervous: ) and it went really well, people were very enthusiast. So that makes for me the mood atm: :-D :-D :-D

Congrats Speel :-D
:pint:
Are we allowed updates?
VERY tired now

Trust me guys, I have a very short temper and get very irritated very easily. But I'm socially aware enough to know when I should bury it. When I'm with people I like in a comfortable situation then I'm fine, but if I'm put in an uncomfortable situation, or if people are doing something which I find annoying, I do get very grumpy.
Fortunately I like you guys so hopefully you will never see that side of me ;-)

Better than my FreeTranslation manglings! I sometimes think it's funny to translate phrases back and forth with FreeTranslation to see how much it mangles it! For example, I just tried it with the phrase "please pass the kippers", continually translating between English and German, and here are the English phrases is came back with for each subsequent translation:
1. Please pass the kippers -> Führen Sie bitte die kippers
2. Führen Sie bitte die kippers -> Lead please those of dump truck
3. Lead please those of dump truck -> Leitung gefallen denen des Kippers
4. Leitung gefallen denen des Kippers -> Please line those of the dump truck
5. Please line those of the dump truck -> Zeichnen Sie bitte die des Kippers
6. Zeichnen Sie bitte die des Kippers -> Draw please those of the dump truck
7. Draw please those of the dump truck -> Abgehobener Betrag bitte die des Kippers
8. Abgehobener Betrag bitte die des Kippers -> Amount taken off asks those of the dump truck
9. Amount taken off asks those of the dump truck -> Die entfernte Menge bittet um um die des Kippers
10. Die entfernte Menge bittet um um die des Kippers -> The distant quantity asks over for those of the dump truck
11. The distant quantity asks over for those of the dump truck -> Die entfernte Quantität bittet rüber um die des Kippers
12. Die entfernte Quantität bittet rüber um die des Kippers -> The distant quantity asks more rueber for those of the dump truck
13. The distant quantity asks more rueber for those of the dump truck -> Die entfernte Quantität bittet mehr rueber um die des Kippers
14. Die entfernte Quantität bittet mehr rueber um die des Kippers -> The distant quantity asks more more rueber for those of the dump truck
15. The distant quantity asks more more rueber for those of the dump truck -> Die entfernte Quantität bittet mehr mehr rueber um die des Kippers
16. Die entfernte Quantität bittet mehr mehr rueber um die des Kippers -> The distant quantity asks more more more rueber for those of the dump truck
After all of those it finally decided that the last one was definitely correct and kept producing the same one over and over again.
Now I can speak German too!
Die entfernte Quantität bittet mehr mehr rueber um die des Kippers!

24"? Good God, what on earth would you do with one that big??! You'd need something bloody big to put it in! Like a great big cupboard, or a massive desk.
Sorry, what were *you* referring to? ;-)

16. Die entfernte Quantität bittet mehr mehr rueber um die des Kippers -> The distant quantity asks more more more rueber for those of the dump truck
After all of those it finally decided that the last one was definitely correct and kept producing the same one over and over again.

You do a much better job than I. I struggle to find the words to express myself!
It would be nice if the German members did join in more... But they probably run away when they see us coming!!! :-P

Yeah I know, and I should have done this long ago, as I am experienced enough to do so. But sometimes one fails.

You'll be fine :-)

Yea, but it was a messy half of 2008, for me. I guess that made me fail in a certain sense. Not as human, but as professional (something what I try to be).

That's all rather cryptic... I feel like I should be solving this riddle somehow :-)
-
Hm, maybe it's because it might be a bit 'translated'. Forgive me, I was a bit tired.
I tried to explain that as a professional, you're documenting your findings when you're researching stuff, rather than afterwards (which is what I'm doing now). 2008 was messy for me because all sorts of things happened (bit long to explain, and it happened all on one day  ), and this fact made me not working as a professional.

Still none the wiser TBH :-?
The important thing is that you learned from whatever mistake it was you made and are now trying again.

Now that's the point, this showed that I haven't learned from my mistakes I have made in the past, because of the fuss I had this year.
-
I think you're being too hard on yourself. Anyway, how did it go today?
-
Well, I emailed it, and got rather quick reply from my teachers that they'd see into it.

Would you like to share, I'm sure some here might be able to offer assistance!

Well, on one day, my sis decided to marry and go to the US, a friend died, and there was a broken into my parents' house.

Your sister's marriage is a good thing, nicht wahr?
Yes, as we get old more people we know die :-( Were you close?
Did anything get broken or stolen from your parents house?

Well, twas a friend of my parents, really. But the marriage (and the emigration too) was a good thing. But talking about having mixed feelings! Well, there was a bit broken, not much though. But after that there has been repeatedly broken into my parent's house, leaving them completely startled. They're better now, and the main suspect has been caught and has confessed. (it's a local village, for local people, where my parents live, you know ;-) )

Yes, I've lost a few friends... and a couple of family members this year, so I do understand. But I tend to be philosophical about such matters...
But the marriage (and the emigration too) was a good thing. But talking about having mixed feelings!
A change as big as that is going to cause ambivalence... but as long as your sister is happy, that is all you can ask for!

I think it's perfectly reasonable for a lapse in professionalism to occur when you have so much going on in your personal life. Any reasonable teacher/employer/whoever should understand that and cut you some slack. As I said before, I think you're being far too hard on yourself under the circumstances.
It sounds like you need a holiday :-)

Hm, yes, but I think I wasn't really aware of that.

Sure thing. I'll sure gonna enjoy the hospitality of the Scots. :-)

Perhaps not at the time, but my point was that looking back you shouldn't feel that you failed. You were just affected by personal issues which were beyond your control.
