My A4000 is about as stable as Amy Winehouse (not to offend, I love them both). Usually my harddrive doesn't spin up fast enough(?) and I begin with a purple install OS screen. Now I often go to a barebones CLI (can't find the C directory). And about half the time Ctrl-A-A only results in bit of disk activity but no start-up of any kind?
Thanks.
Is there a way for a non-electrician to test the health of his power supply?

If you are using an old hard drive and 3.0 ROMS, I would suggest that you try to get 3.1 ROMS fitted. The A4000 will then wait a bit longer for the hard drive to spin up before displaying the insert disk prompt screen.
