These are harder to come by now, especially those with 030s. Prices seem to be going up, too. I managed to snag a Supraturbo28 about a month ago from e-bay after a year of casual searching.
-
ok. I`m just drooling your hw-list. Do you have any leftovers on your collection ;)
I hope someone wants to get rid of old accelerator. Oh, did I mention: money is no problem...
-
Why not a new 020 accelerator?
Two more weeks (TM) :-D

I´ve got two Mtec 68020i´s WITH 68882 coprocessors but I prefer to keep them in order to experiment with expanding 68000 machines. Also have got an unknown 68030+68882 board, possibly Atari minded but may also work in A500 but it doesn´t have any memory on it :boohoo:

rkauer tell us more about your project

@Effy
Here are a couple of pictures of the MTec 68020i board installed in my A1000 with an ICD ADIde FFV2 Kickstart 3.1 in ROM and it boots off of CF. It's running great, more pictures to come soon.

Look in EAB's thread (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=36596).(http://www.amigabr.org/uploads/smil47e876b1cbff5.gif)

The 500 is a great machine, most of us probably began with it. But, if money is no problem (and especially if it is), it may not be the best place to start today. Accelerators are becoming scarce and the graphics are un-expandable.
Amigakit is still selling new and refurbed A1200s, which has better graphics and CPU. Accelerators are getting scarce for it, too though.
3000s and 4000s become available from time to time and they came with 030s as minimum. Probably, the same cost as the GVP A530 and they are better machines as well. You can spend a lot of money tricking out an A500 and still find youself painted into a corner concerning graphics, networking, and general expansion.
OTOH, maybe the 500 is what fires your imagination. Grin.
Final thought: GVP memory is proprietary to them and very hard to find also. Some avoid GVP accelerators entirely.

It's true that A500 accelerators are getting harder to find by now. Probably some people prefer the hard way of upgrading their A500s than upgrading their A1200s. I was searching for a long time for an A530 - finally I managed to buy a H530 stormbringer @ 16MHz which I succesfully upgraded to a full 68030@50MHz (not the A530's EC version). It took me lots of time and money but I'm quite happy now as my A500 ROCKS! So, have some patience and keep searching - there are some rare treasures out there! Oh, and keep an eye on rkauer's project - I'm sure I will!

Almost worse is having a perfectly working A530, BUT with a ruined outer case... especially when you're a cosmetics nazi. :/
-
Congratulations on finding one! You make look easy.
Let us know how it goes.

Try and get a DCE Viper 530 instead, much better.

I call Bull! Because, I don't remember selling it. Then again, I was drinking yesterday ... :pint:

a viper 530 would rock. the stuff A500 dreams are made of ;-)
i gave up looking for an A530, so managed to get hold of a GVP HD8+, and supra turbo 28 combo. its a good start, but still needing some 32bit flavour
then about 4 weeks later, i found an A530... in Hongkong
as far as my otherhalf is concerned, there were no shipping charges, no import duty, just a 20yr old thing in a box
i've never seen a viper for real, but, like my A530, they are out there :-D
