Well, in light of the Georg Braun A1000, and hearing that the 50 mhz 030's and 68882's were hard to get ahold of, i started doing some research, and i've found both at a good price, i'll only buy 20 of each to begin with, starting with the 030's, but i want to know what to look out for. As in what numbers SHOULD be on the chip, i dont want to get grave robbed here.
And how many are interested. im looking at a price of about 30-40 dollars for the 68030's and about 60 for the 68882's. Give or take.

I have just contacted Georg regarding what revisions of the CPU/FPU are usable... watch this space :)

Ok here is what I got regarding CPU/FPU:
The GB A1000 motherboard can be used with either MC68EC030 or MC68030 processors (CPU) at clock frequencies between 40 and 50 MHz. The clock frequency is chosen by a quartz-oscillator on the motherboard. The clock frequency used must be adapted to the used CPU.
To increase the performance of floating point applications the GB A1000 motherboard can be equipped with a MC68881/2 co-processor (FPU). For this purpose the PCB is equipped with a 68 pin PGA socket. The FPU uses the same clock frequency as the CPU and therefore does not need its own oscillator.

Cool, everything should be fine then, if theyre not relabled or something mad like that.

Why would anyone want an FPU with an Amiga (unless it's inside an 060)??
Nothing ever used it.
Complete waste of money and electricity.

Anything can use it if it's there. If it's not there then nothing can use it. The OS can use it, if it's there.
"If A < B" can be done in the fpu.

But nothing, including the OS, does use it... mainly cos it's slower than FPM on the CPU.

eh ? any program using the ieee libs get the benefit of an FPU for free, so all those prg's use them without "intention"

ALL those programs eh?? List a few, go on. If there are so many programs that use the the FPU list them.
If you can find 10, that the majority of us will have heard of, I'll buy you a pint or two.

@ alexh, Doom, end of matter in my concern.

Heh, heh! DOOM eh??
Doom does NOT use an FPU! The original never did and neither does any Amiga port. The game is written to use fixed point math not floats.
And why you'd want to play a lame Amiga port at 320x200 at about 5-10fps on an 030 when you can play GLDoom / ZDoom / prBoom on a PC/Mac at 1280x1024 75fps I dunno, you'd have to be BONKERS!

Only thing to watch out for: what type of package do they come in? PGA (Pin Grid Array, gold pins at the bottom) or PLCC (like the agnus/buster etc) chips.
For Georg's board you probably need PGA or else do a lot of re-wiring.
