Hi everyone,
I have a problem installatin amiga os 4.0. When i boot up from the installation floppy, it request me to insert the amiga 4.0 os cd, when i do so, it states "can't find Sys:s/AREXX", Bootfloppy : C/Assign failed, returncode 20. i use the original cd and bootfloppy.
while when i start the installation from workbench 3.0, directly from the cd, i get the message : "cannot cancel Sys".
My Amiga system does meet the hardware requirements for this os, amiga 1200 , blizzard ppc, 256mbram,mediator pci SX, 2gb hd space.
Anybody can help me out here ? Thanx !!

Just guessing but did you name your boot partion SYS ? If yes try changing its name.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply, i changed the name of my boot disk (it was called SYS indeed), it got the installation process past the assignment error. However, at this stage it appears that it keeps running in a loop: after requesting to insert the amiga os 4.0 cd, my amiga monitor rotates colors for a short time and then turns blank, then the floppy drive gets read and the amiga reboots itself, then this same process repeats endlessly...
Any ideas anyone ? Thanks again for your quick answer Fallenone ! : - )

Haven't been using a real Amiga for years, my guess is that you either have a device connected to your BlizzardPPC SCSI or maybe you have to remove the floppy after the reboot. Haven't installed OS4 yet as my A4000T is at repairs right now. So these are all guesses.

thanks again for your help, managed to boot the installation from cd, installation worked perfect, great !
Now i have to install the driver for the voodoo card, but this is very well documented, so just a matter of reading.
Great stuff, i have been trying this for a long time, and this took a lot of patience and endurance, but AMIGA is worth it.
Amiga to the future !
Thanks again !

You don't need to do anything for the Voodoo driver under 4.0.
Select Voodoo graphics card on installation and that's it.

i have done so, but it apears my pci board doesn't get detected, this is why my voodoo card don't work. i discovered this in showconfig, 2 zorro boards are recognized but no pci boards. I use the blizzard powerpc and the mediator sx, i suppose the zorrboards refere here to.
i am going to look into this as the pci boards should be supported by amiga os 4.0 (stated on the box), but i have my doubts about this. I find it unbelievable that a perfectly installed driver under wb 3.0 has to be re-installed, this could have been so easily stored in RAD: (ram memory) during installation. Under wb 3.0 i had everyting running, pci board and all pci cards included.
Thanks so far, if anybody has any tips on how to get the mediator sx working under amiga os 4, please let me know !!
Thanks in advance
