I'm trying to work out how to trigger MIDI sounds on my keyboard via OSS. I used to use my ProMIDI interface with my A500+ and an Octamed V4 cover disk. Now however I wish to use OSS for more channels which I can actually see, since the old version used to shrink the channels as you added them making only about 8 channels viable to use. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it working in OSS though. In V4 there was this pretty simple screen where you could switch MIDI on, select your MIDI voice and channel and just get on with it. Where is it now?
Just FYI got an A1200 030 with a hdd hooked to the ProMIDI now, still the same trusty Yamaha DJX keyboard though.

Right click menu, select "Block" and "Set Properties" (or Right-Amiga-B) to get to the block properties and adjust the slider for however many tracks you need.

Well that's useful also but what I wanted to know is where the midi sound selection screen has gone. Without it I can't select X sound to use in slot 01 thru 6F or whatever the instrument number system is now. For instance i'd have MIDI snare sound on 01, MIDI kick sound on 02, MIDI hi-hat sound on 03, and so forth.
That's where I'm really having trouble, because there seems to be no such screen anymore. If it is in the block properties somewhere I can't find it. Need to get the umigah up and running.

Set inst to 1. Go to the props window and set midi ch to 1. Set preset at whatever sound you're using. Turn vol to max (it defaults at zero!). Now every time you play inst 1 on octamed, the midi note will be played. Repeat the process for other instruments.

Yes, clicking the Instrument "Props..." button will also let you change MIDI channels and presets. Just out of curiosity, if you're triggering your drum sounds via MIDI (I'm assuming a drum machine or rack synth) why would you need each individual drum on a different instrument?
