Title: 9 Pin Analogue to RGB Phono (or SCART), do they exist?
Post by: tokyoracer on June 04, 2008, 06:47:17 PM: Just as title really. Recently aquired an Acorn A3000 (not Amiga related but a rival to the Amiga in the UK. I would like to know if there is such a cable as it would be good to hook it upto a TV rather then another seperate monitor using up valuable space in my room. (Space which I dont have).

Post by: Daedalus on June 04, 2008, 06:59:48 PM: Lol, they even had an A4000 model ;-) They weren't really much competition for the big box Amigas or the A1200 though, but nice machines in their own right... Anyway, apparently, the A3000 output is *almost* compatible with SCART, but can't provide the sync signal needed without an external "active cable". I'm sure the electronics involved would be pretty simple if you were so inclined as to try make one, but good luck finding an original ;)

Post by: Speelgoedmannetje on June 04, 2008, 07:19:49 PM: Nice way to learn soldering, because it's very easy to solder such. Google for the pinouts of the 9 pin connector and SCART, and match the pins R, G, B, Ground, and Composite (Sync). These can be straightforwardly be attached.

Post by: Daedalus on June 04, 2008, 07:36:08 PM: Well, yeah, that's how I cut my teeth soldering - making up leads I couldn't find/afford. Unfortunately that machine, while it has the RGB pinouts of CGA (I think - RGB DB9 anyway), the sync signal is too low for most TVs to accept and needs to be bumped up, making it slightly more complicated. A transistor, a resistor and a 12V line from somewhere would do it, but that's a bit more than your average My First Lead (tm). ;-)
