mr_a500 (http://www.amiga.org/userinfo.php?uid=9703)'s profile would be more interesting if he had made 6 more posts.  :-D

Errr.....  Prehaps he is referring to all the 7's in his profile. 771 posts + 6 posts would make 777 posts. mr_500 last logged in on 2007/7/7

I'm innocent! I haven't even posted in this thread yet! :-o
O.T. Too bad mr. A500 hasn't logged in for such a long time, I very much liked his way of dealing with our beloved Miggy.

@DBAlex

Is it the number of times he complained about the screenshot ratings?

My first ever post was a screenshot (and like all my posts, was posted using an Amiga 500). Surprisingly, that (embarrassingly old) screenshot is back to #1 in the Top 10. Not that it matters - the Top 10 is now meaningless thanks to some immature loser trashing all the ratings.

I think it's about time for my last ever post.

 Hey..
I've sent him a PM, but since he doesn't login to Amiga.org anymore he won't be able to read it. Therefore i'm going to repost it here, in case he still browses the forum...:

  Dear mr_a500.
I can understand that you are a sensitive person, but leaving a forum just because someone gave you negative ratings for the pictures you posted (I don't remember what was the exact reason, actually) it's just stupid. Try to understand that.

You are a dedicated, "non-hybrid" (:-D) Amiga user and the community needs people like you.

I just did a search for "mr_a500" and found this thread. Wow, a thread about me. Fascinating. I thought I might as well respond.

I'm not sensitive. People insult me all the time, threaten me with death, etc. and I just laugh it off. The screenshots have nothing to do with me not logging in. I admit I was a bit annoyed about the idiot who trashed the ratings, but I didn't really care that much.

The main reason I stopped coming here was because it felt like a waste of time. Also, nothing much was happening here. I just kept seeing the same threads over and over. So I decided to stop wasting time, get Linux and join the modern world. I never quite made it. I quickly discovered that Linux sucks. So I'm still using Amigas for everything. (..and I'm still wasting time making screenshots)

I'm touched (...and surprised, actually) that people missed me. People never miss me. Even my own family doesn't miss me. They usually say something like, "Don't bother coming for Christmas this year, maybe we'll see you next year ...or whatever." ;-)

So this is a new experience. Thanks. :-D

I did have 777 posts when I last logged in. Somehow, 6 posts got deleted. Maybe they were posts in News threads or in threads that expired or something. I even made sure my last login time was 7:07:07 and was thrilled when I made it, but I was disgusted when I logged out and saw that I got screwed by daylight savings time. (I have no idea how it later ended up 6:33 though) See, when you're wasting time, you've got to waste time right. I waste time like a pro. ;-)

Hey! I only complained a couple times. (maybe 3 times total if you include two complaints in the same thread)

I still haven't figured that one out. Is that some kind of insult or something? That's it! I'm outta here! ;-)

Hi mr_a500,

Just want to chime in to say I always thought what you did with your A500 was really a great demonstration of the old girl - inspiring stuff.

I also thought it was a pity when you left the forum, though I can fully understand why one might. I don't have much to do with Amiga at all these days. I also moved to Linux, though I have not left it as you have, despite agreeing that it lacks most of Amiga OS's strengths.

I still really like the forum though. Of course there is a lot of repetition in the Amiga threads, though there is plenty of interesting and fun stuff here too, and plenty of interesting, fun, and generous people. Also, there is actually development in the Amiga scene, which I think is pretty good, all things considered.

So, you are still on Amigas, but are you interested in MorphOS of AOS4.x?

Great to see you back. An unexpected surprise.

Cheers,

Oli

Definitely. If they made a show called Pimp my Miggy, then Mr A500 would be the head honcho there.
Sadly my A500 doesn't get used these days and is in a very err .... substandard state.

Welcome back Mr_A500!

Your A500 is the embodiment of everything I love about the Amiga.

Do you plain to switch to a bit newer Amiga? May be 1200PPC or Efika/SAM? Or at least AGA chipset?
It's interesting to get maximum from a500, but may be in AGA you can better realise you art potential?

I've never tried them. I don't feel like paying for the expensive (obsolete) hardware. I'm really looking forward to the Natami though. I hope that's not a load of BS... like OS5 was. (my prediction was pretty accurate on that one)

I've been looking for an "Amiga replacement" since 1994, but I still haven't found it. I now have a NeXTstation, SGI Indy (IRIX), a bunch of classic Macs, a G3 with OSX, PCs (free...I'd never buy a PC) with BeOS & Ubuntu. I've used (been forced to use) every single version of Windows from 3.0 to Vista... and lots of older stuff like OS2 Warp, Novell, CP/M, QNX (and experimental stuff like MenuetOS). I've done lots of research and wasted lots of time.

Of ALL the computers and operating systems I've ever used, I still like Amiga the best. BeOS would come next, but it's still missing many Amiga features I like. Everything else is a combination of "too bloated", "too unresponsive", "too tedious", "too restrictive", "not enough software" or just plain "badly designed, intensely frustrating piece of rotten crapware".

I don't see any hope for future operating systems either. It's now all about controlling and limiting the user rather than giving the user control over his own computer. Amiga is far from perfect, but at least I control it rather than it attempting to control and block what I want to do.

Still, it's obvious that I can't continue using a 20-year-old computer for internet. Next month I'm getting high-speed internet connection (no more dialup for Amigas) and get the Mac, BeOS and Ubuntu on the internet. My Amiga internet days will finally be over. (...until I have enough cash to waste on an accelerator, Deneb and network card for my A3000)

I had been trying to get an AGA Amiga for years. Last year I finally got an A4000 (free!), but it has a motherboard problem. Fast RAM isn't recognized. I need an accelerator with RAM before I can play around with it. (but no money for that at the moment... I just bought a house so I'll have enough room for my "computer museum" :-D)

I'm already a celebrity. Read about my TV series and movie roles. (http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=363715&postcount=37) :-D ;-)

(photo of me was scanned using DCTV on A500, by the way)

Seriously though, I was in a movie - filmed in Paris. Sadly, it was a made-for-TV movie(ABC), filmed in Paris, Ontario and I was an extra. (...but at least I had a fake gun - I was a Texas sheriff)
