Well, it looks like after many years, the mainboard of my very first A500 reappeared in my parents basement. 8-) I tried it out, but unfortunately it refuses to boot. The disk drive spins up, the start logo disappears for a second, but then it stops and the start logo is there again. The behavior is like when you insert a disk that is not bootable. I tried 2 different floppy drives that are known to work, already exchanged both CIAs, but no luck. Anything else I could check / exchange?

Could the drive be out of alignment?

No, both drives work properly in another Amiga. I justed exchanged Paula aswell, but still no difference.

Hi,
I repared an old friend that got a similar problem.
It was due to oxydation of the chips !
Use a teebrush, spray contact cleaner, and use them on every chips and theirs sockets !!
I can do it for you, but you'll have to send it ....

OMG this is stupid. How likely is it that all disks that you picked for testing are corrupted?? Anyway, the old lady works again, wohoo!! :-D
