Title: Buddah & A3000 problem
Post by: Marcb on May 29, 2008, 03:00:03 PM
Hi,

I have an A3000D with a small scsi HD & KS 3.1.
Today I received my Buddah card from Amigakit & installed it but the Amiga will not boot with the Buddah present in any Zorro slot... no scsi disk activity, nothing at all...

Any ideas?

The buddah is an IDE interface. I belive it can't work together with scsi devices. Disconnect the scsi HD and connect an IDE HD to the buddah and check if it works. I thing thats the problem.  :idea:

I guess it's possible, but surely it would be designed so that the IDE pins are facing up? (dont forget the Zorro slots are on a vertical daughtercard on the 3000)

@Bakoulis

I tried it with the  SCSI HD removed, still hangs   :-?

Mine is in the top slot towards the front facing upwards and i have still got my scsi hard drive connected, plus an ide one on the buddah and a cd drive.

Everything works fine, i'd take a photo but i've currently got it in bits for a refurb.

I take it the 3000 works ok without it in ?.

Paul.

It works perfectly without the Buddha installed... I guess it's my daughterboard then  :boohoo:

It might be your Buddah.  I used mine in my A3000 with the onboard SCSI and A2000 with a GVP SCSI card with no conflicts.  Then suddenly the card stopped working.  The startup menu still detects the card and says that it is working, but no devices will boot from it or appear in Workbench.  I tested it again yesterday in an A4000 I picked up.  Again the card is detected as working on the early boot menu, but when I took the bottable and working IDE drive from the A4000's internal connector and attached it to either port on the Buddha then it wouldn't boot.  A second drive attached to the Buddha wouldn't show on Workbench either.

I guess I may have zapped a chip with static while swapping it between machines.

It's a great card when it works and I highly recommend it.

@Darrin

Strange thing is, mine still works on the A2000, although I would much rather it be that I fried the Buddha than anything on the Amiga!

@Alexh

Sadly not , no other Zorro cards I can try out on it...
