Title: How many interested in buying MC68882RC33A(s)?
Post by: Nlandas on May 28, 2008, 09:40:03 PM
How many Amigans here are willing to commit to buying MC68882RC33A chips for say $5 plus shipping? They are light so shipping via USPS worldwide shouldn't be too outrageous.

www.usps.com can give you an estimate from my zipcode 13083.

If there is enough interest, I think I have a supplier lined up. I only need like 24 orders at $5 to break even.

I'm hoping I got the right PGA part number MC68882RC33A for that 33Mhz FPU.

Yes, I'll ship them worldwide. Anywhere that the United State Post Office goes.

$5 plus shipping to your address. Hopefully, we can get some more takers and I'll order the units.

For $5/MC68882RC33A + Shipping, I would be interested in purchasing two MC68882RC33As.

If you go to USPS.COM they'll give you a good estimate of shipping to anywhere. I suspect it will weigh very little once packaged. A few ounces.

I can take Paypal or if you want to mail me payment in some form, I could do that. Of course that will take forever for it to arrive and clear.

I see enough here for me to justify the order, even if I don't break even now - hopefully, I will sell more later.

I'll place the order with the vendor today and when they are in - I'll ask people to PM me with their requests.

I don't know if these will run faster for sure but I've read on several Amiga forums that any 68882 will run at 50MHz reliably. (That's only second hand information.)

They are pulled from recycled systems. I'll keep some in reserve in case a few don't function but I'm not running this to make money, so I hope people will understand there is no real warranty implied.

Mine is at 50Mhz and it's fine, not overheating or any crashes.

The more the merrier and I just found out from the vendor that these are listed as new stock.

Thanks to tokyoracer for the heads up that you've got one running at 50Mhz. :-)

Ok, now that I have everyone all excited my supplier has changed the quote.

My appologees, I thought this was a done deal. I will keep working on them and if not, look for another supplier. I assume you all don't want to pay $120 per unit since AmigaKit has them for $30.

With all the recycling going on in the US of old Macintosh systems there has to be a good supplier for this part and I'm dedicated to finding them for us all.
