Title: Getting MOS to work?!
Post by: Astral on May 27, 2008, 11:03:02 AM
I have a 1200/PPC/BVision setup. OS3.9 and OS4 works fine.

I installed MOS (1.4?) to a FFS formatted highest bootable priority partition. When turned on, I notice a bit of hard drive access, the monitor turns on, followed by a reset, the monitor turns off, and that's it, no more disk access, and a black screen. This is using all standard configuration settings. The documentation relating to settings is very vauge and unintuitive to say the least. What settings do I need to use to get this thing working?

-use module1.rom.idehack instead of the standard version
-use CED/GoldED or a decent editor to edit the Startup-sequence. *Do not use* ED/MEmacs/Notepad as they don't support lines longer than 255chars and trunk the lines.
-do not use ROM3.1. Use fakerom.elf ...If you want paula audio and floppy drive use the modules extracted by Skolman or extract them your self using Luciferin or REMUS.
-Set your resetlevel correctly.
-Use old SFS 68k versions to format the drive.

Got it going. I renamed the module1.rom.idehack to module1.rom to replace the default rom. Switched off, switched on, and loaded. Starting to have a tinker now...

Great to hear that!

It may be a good idea to download MUI4 and latest Ambient and give it a go. Take care about MUI4 version because some versions are unstable.
