I've got something like 6 or 7 Logitech Bus mice in a box somewhere, all missing their cords. Any idea where I could get new ones? I can't seem to find any 9-wire cable that has anywhere near the same thickness as the original cords. I can't get this type of non-standard cable locally, and I can't find it online either.
Has anyone else had better luck?
Another question: Where would I get low-profile male DB-9 connectors, like the ones used on Commodore mice?

get STP (shielded ethernet cable), the one with multiple tiny wires/strands (not full ones for walls).
you'll have 8+1 wires, cheapest possible.

Low profile? The only ones I can think of on Commodore mice are moulded onto the cable, in which case you'd never be able to wire/rewire them. I've never had a problem using standard off-the-shelf DB9 connectors and matching hoods. The STP cable is a good idea, but as pointed out, don't get the solid core type as this will break with continued flexing. If they're only 2-button mice you only need 8 cores - the ninth is used for the middle button on some mice.
Alternatively there is overall screened cable available for making cheap SCART cables, but even without the individual screens of higher quality SCART cable, it's still thick at 6mm in diameter...

Unfortunately, most Logitech Bus mice have 3 buttons. The Maplin stuff doesn't look like it's thin enough for mouse use (although it may work for gamepads), but it does seem pretty close. Too bad they don't ship to the US.
I'd need something more like 4 or 5 mm in diameter.

You should get the thickest cables you can find and use those. You'll be the only one ever to have humungo mouse cables and then the offers will roll in because your fame will reach far and wide.

Hmm, Methinks Weirdami has lost the plot. Some very strange posts of late - Maybe time for a reboot ?
Oh, and I've never had a mouse cable break before the internal mechanism does. Putting two and twenty three together, that should mean that there are millions of dead mice around the world that you could harvest the correct sized leads from :-o
