Hi,
Not exactly an Amiga question per se, but it is Amiga related so here's hoping someone might have a suggestion.
I've installed Linux on my PS3 so that I can enjoy Amiga games on my HDTV in the living room. I've got E-UAE set up including Bluetooth support for the PS3 controllers, which is very cool (wireless controllers rock!). :-D
It works fine now as it is but I need a mouse in order to launch games. What I'd really like is to have some sort of joystick operated front end like many that exist for MAME. I could probably write something myself, but I'd rather save myself the time if a suitable solution exists already.
BTW, I'll be publishing a step-by-step tutorial soon on how to set up E-UAE on your PS3 for those who are interested in doing the same.

Are the ps3 even capable of running UAE with vsync enabled in full screen mode? If not, then i dont see much point in using the ps3 over a cheap pc.

@Tomas
I'm sure the "[TV] in the living room" part was the key.

You can always put a pc underneath the tv as well. There are plenty of pcs that are much smaller and less noticeable than the beast PS3.

Since he already has it running on a PS3, shall we just assume it's possible and that this is how he wants to do it? :roll:
@cpufuture
You might have some luck with this:

It's a joystick controlled game menu for the Amiga.
Edit - of course, this is a menu from *within* UAE.

Exactly :-)
PC's are usually too clumsy and noisy for living room usage and my PS3 is already set up and ready to go.

@cpufuture
I have made some edits to my post above which hopefully will help you.

Thanks for the suggestion, moto. It's not exactly what I was looking for, since it runs from inside UAE, but an interesting little Amiga launcher nonetheless, which I'll probably use in some form some day!!

Here (http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/Emulators/Game-Launcher-19830.shtml) is one which would actually run under Linux. It claims to work with any emulator, so I would guess that each option in the menu launches a script or an application with particular arguments. Might be more what you're looking for.
BTW this is just one result from a Google search for "linux launcher joystick". There might be more, or ones which are better.
Edit - just tried the Windows version of that app (couldn't be bothered to compile it...) and it looks pretty good. Very configurable, and launch anything, so no problems getting it to launch UAE with a specific config. I couldn't test it with a joystick as I don't have one, and I don't know if it will compile under PS3 Linux. But it's a start ;-)

I guess that works with WHDLoad?

@speel
Just downloaded it and had a look. Seems to just launch a shell script when you select an option, so you could definitely launch WHDLoad games using it.

Just an update. I couldn't get Gamelauncher to compile after quite some hours of downloading and patching old code, but then I found Lemonlauncher, which is a more recent project more or less derived from Gamelauncher.
It compiled fine on my PS3, although it didn't have joystick support. It uses SDL so it was fairly easy to patch the source code to add joystick support. I might submit my patch code to the author when I get everything set up the way I want it.
