Is the KS ROM in the CDTV different than the A500/A600/A1000/A2000?
I bought two KS ROM switchers that were advertised for the CDTV, with the intent of using one in my CDTV, and the other in my A500, with another DKB MultiStartII ROM switcher for my A2000 and a DKB KwickStart for my A1000, whew! That is a lot of ROM switchers to populate.
So, I need a few 1.2, 1.3 and 2.04/5 KS ROMs to use in these game machines, but I don't know if the KS-ROM in the CDTV is the same as the A500/A600/A1000/A2000?
I may change my mind and sell the ROM switcher for the A2000 as I am probably going to sell that machine and only keep my high end A2000 with KS 3.1 in it.

its bound to be different cause cdtv has more stuff a500/2000 doesn't have (cdrom driver, boot up menu, jingle, etc). these stuff are placed in cdtv extended rom I believe. I never owned a cdtv, so I don't know if they're two different physical chips, or one chip of bigger size.

I'm pretty sure the CDTV takes either a different ROM or a second one. Remember, the CDTV has the boot screen with the cool CD image, and the audio CD player built in, etc...
[EDIT: Gah! Countzero beat me to the post!]

The extra code to run the CDTV may reside in a different chip or location and be loaded before the Kickstart ROM is loaded?

ok, doobrey is the professional on this, but what I know, the first thing to be loaded is always the exec. the cdtv and cd32 execs are different though, they 'check' for extra stuff at a specific location. this is how 1mb kickstarts work (search forum for more info on this).

An A500/A2000 Kickstart rom will work fine in the CDTV. The "extra code" is stored on 2 other smaller ROMs at locations U34 and U35. A regular Kickstart switcher will work but you have to upgrade the CDTV ROMs to at least version 2.3 for the CD-Rom drive to work with 2.04+
Hope that helps. I can help some on this as I have the upgraded ROM's and a self-made Kickstart switcher in mine.

Thanks for the info Jeff, do you happen to have an EPROM burner to burn a set of CDTV 2.3 ROMs for me?
