There's a ton of Amiga 4000s on ebay right now ranging from $150-350 from one seller. Missing keyboards and mice, but otherwise seem like decent configurations. I think I may get one of them and sell off my 2000s and perhaps even my 1200 (probably keep that though, sentimental value). I can use the neat zorro cards and Amber chip scan doubler I have *and* have AGA, woot!

I saw those too yesterday, and got very tempted to get one... But the shipping cost to Singapore is pretty heavy on me. And, if i were to get one, i need to change the PSU, coz in Asia we use 220-240V :-(
-
Bonami - What did he quote for shipping cost to you?

Take a good look at the pics before buying, while the batteries "have been removed", the majority appear to have suffered some amount of mobo damage. :/

Good advice, I just bought a 3000 with "battery removed" and the mobo is a disaster...

@ Fingers,
Hi, the seller doesn't state if he ships worldwide, and i didn't actually inquire of him. I recently bought a Fastlane card from eBay US and the shipping cost USD40!
So i guess the s&h for a whole machine would be around US$200 or more to australasia region ....

I won one last night. I hope it turns out OK.

Come to think of it, aren't A4000 batteries the button cell type?
-
I think that was only the last C= revision that came with button cells...someone correct me if wrong.

You are right, only the last Rev D A4000D and of course A4000T came with coin batteries and there werent many Rev D comming of the assembly line before C= whent bankrupt.

Damn, you're too quick for me, Darrin. I was going to PM you via OG to tell you about them. Guess you won't be buying my machine, then. :-D
Great deals on those things, though, although now you have to track down a mouse and a keyboard. And how exactly can some of them have WB 3.1 installed if the KS is only 3.0?
-
I think he has copied a generic version and altered it for each auction.
He got the revision type wrong on at least one of them as well.
If selling that many machines I'd probably screw up at least one small detail too :-)

Yep, sorry mate I couldn't resist the prices and I paid a little extra for one with the revision 3.1 68040 card (the others seem to have rev 3.0).
The keyboard was a worry, but I bought an adapter from Germany to use a PC keyboard.
I'll wait to see what the Kickstart is. If it's 3.0 then I guess I'll need a couple of replacement ROMS
-
I have KS 3.0 in my A1200, and run WB 3.1 on it just fine.
I got the other one with a 3.1 CPU card, not sure how much difference that makes though.
As for the battery... he CLAIMS that most of them work fine. There are a few where he says they don't work, so, I figure an ebay scammer would try claiming they all work great. We'll see.

Ive bought the 1084S Monitor and the A4000 Keyboard off him.

Well UPS sent me an email saying that the box is on its way. I'd like to know what the Kickstart is for sure as I don't want to order ROMS if there is any chance that it already has 3.1 ROM included (After all, he claims it has Zorro II slots).
I went for the 68040 3.1 card because it will also work in an A3000 too while the rev 3.0 will not. It will help with the resale if you ever upgrade to a 68060.
I'll take that risk on the battery too, because (like you said) he was selling damaged models for less.
Please let me know what Kickstart you have when you receive yours.

The listing for mine said 3.0 ROMs with 3.1 WorkBench, so, that's what I expect. But, we'll see.
As for the CPU... I vaguely recall reading that some later chips (68040 and 68060) aren't as compatible with classic Amiga software as the 68030 and earlier. So, I'll probably stick with the 68040 and the on-board CPU (didnt 4000s have eithe a 68020 or 68030 on board?). Good to know the difference though.

I think only the Rev D (Cost Reduced) had a processor on the motherboard (030) while the others (as per this auction) only had whatever was in the CPU slot.
