Title: flash memory IDE
Post by: Asmitt on May 12, 2008, 09:37:03 PM
Near the bottom of this page

http://mini-itx.com/store/default.asp?c=16#cfm

Industrial quality flash memory plugs directly into the IDE interface and acts as a hard drive ,from £15 for 128meg  3.5 and 2.5 models bootable etc .

Thoughts ?

tbh, I think it's a nice but expensive solution.
Dunno if they are 100% Solid State drives (like the ones that are sold in eBay and local stores - 2.5" SSD drives of 4,8,16,32GB) but I think if you can afford them, they are a good investment.

I also dunno if they have CF limited read/write cycles like CF cards have. SSD IDE and SATA drives have a MTBF of 140 years so I think it's a nice way to invest that your precious Amiga Data will be there for a long time to come :D

Personally if I could afford it I would have gone to 2.5" 16 or 32GB SSD :D

Cheers
