hi all, I got a Netgear pcmcia network card from Amiga kit along with a driver disk, I stuck the card in the slot, copied the drivers to the dev/networks folder on my HD and rebooted. The link light comes on as does the 100MB light. But now I'm kind of stuck as to what to do next to get it working. Its hooked in to my PC and the PC sees something is connected, but the Amiga (a1200 BTW with a 68030 cup and 68882fpu)does not respond to pings or transmit to the PC. Has anyone else used this device and got it to work? please help as I have no other way to get info on to my Amiga at the moment. Thanks

You need to install and configure a TCP/IP stack.

ok, how can I do that. I don't have a link between the internet and my Amiga. And don't have a clue how to write Amiga disks on the pc. Nor do I have a CF device on the Amiga. Is there a way to do this or am i screwed.

There is always a way :-) I assume you have Workbench installed to hard disk on your A1200? If so have a look in the Storage/DOSDrivers drawer on your Workbench partition. Double click the PC0 icon. Put a double density disk in the floppy drive and format the PC0 device. This disk will then be read-/writeable on the Amiga and a PC. Then go to Aminet on your PC and download this (http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/AmiTCP-bin-22). Copy it to the floppy disk, install it on your Amiga (you will need to read the docs and follow the installer carefully) and that should get your Amiga online.

cool thank I will give it a go and let you know.

Give this a try:
http://www.acc.umu.se/~patrikax/amiga/guides/AmiTCP_Install/
Worked first time for my 3C589 card.
I’m also using SMBFS, a nice small and simple networking utility that allows shared drives to be visible when opened on the Amiga.
I've got a whole pile of notes that I could post to your email address if you're interested. Just about everything you will probably need to know to get networking to work on your miggy. :-D
Hodgkinson.
EDIT: Thanks again to Patrik Axelsson (patrik) and David Eriksson (fx) for this wonderful resource page.

i have the same kit from amigakit and it's working perfectly.
all you need is in the cdrom which came with the card.
just install it and setup the easynet program.
-
I never got a cd rom with it just a floppy with the drivers
-
motorollin, I dont have a PCO icon
-
No icon to double click, or no icon indicated when a floppy is inserted?
-
no icon to click on the harddrive, but I found it on the Storage floppy ran it and formated the disk. Now I have a bigger problem though. For some reason after I rebooted my Amiga it will no longer boot from the hard drive :-?

That is strange, I got a mini CD with my package from AmigaKit
-
The only thing I got was a red HD floppy with some tape over the hole to make it a DD disk. Writen on it is
CNET
Network Driver Install
amigakit.com
and thats it.

oh well it seems I broke it. I lost my hd and everything on it. now I have to figgur out how to get the hard drive to boot again.
-
Did you just say you formatted the hard disk? If so, it's now empty and you'll have to reinstall the operating system. Excuse me if I misunderstood.
-
I don't know if I formated it or not, Its just not there any more. It is not showing any place and the Amiga will not boot without the WB disk. I don't have an install disk so I have ordered one. I just have to wait a few weeks for it to clear customs.
-
Oh. That shouldn't happen  .
(Will dig out networking notes)
EDIT: Due to occasional interest, I’ve just emailed various authors with regards to uploading the collection of networking notes to the internet.
