The title says it all, i'm looking for a 50MHz 68882 FPU for a 1200z microbotics memory/rtc expansion in an A1200.
Needs to be a PGA type.
-
Hmm... Good luck. That's the best strategy. LUCK.
Or paying an insane amount to liberate a bulk of them from one of the IC suppliers that has them sitting around a storage unit somewhere. Most of those places start at 20-50 unit minimums with a per unit price of >$100, which prices it right out of our market, even if you could get 19-49 others to buy into the idea... :(
None of the Amiga suppliers I've tried currently have any. Even though most have them listed on their websites still... That's a complaint for a different thread.
-
I have a 33Mhz one but even that seems to be scarce too. It runs fine at 50Mhz so i'd broarden your horizons abit.
-
Hey everyone, I managed to get a couple of MC68882's at 50MHz.
These were from http://www.datamemorysystems.com/
For the princely sum of 1 dollar each :)
Happy purchasing.
-
Awesome, thanks for the tip. :pint:
-
wow great find ! unfortunately they don't accept credit cards billed outside US :boohoo: I wonder if they'll accept paypal ?
-
Email them. talk to someone called Nancy.
Sales [sales@datamem.com]
They will do your credit card either by Fax or directly through email.
-
What the..
That is AWESOME
Thanks :D
-
Dear lord! I sent them an email. Though anyone in the USA who will buy the whole lot and then sell them on here cheap to break even (limit to 2 per person i'd recommend) that would be fantastic so everyone can get hold of them without paying silly money.
-
hell yes, I'ld even pay double price for someone who takes the trouble and post them to me (japan) :)

AmigaKit should buy the entire stock, then sell to us :-)

I ordered some extra with Amiga.org users in mind. If and when I actually receive them I'll ship them anywhere as long as you want to cover the cost.
I'll reply here if they actually show.

Some?
-
I ordered 25 total and I want a few of them for myself. The rest will be up for grabs if I actually get them.

Damn... I hope my order went through. I only put up for 3, I actually want 2, and will post 1 for the cost of shipping to any Amiga.org member, provided I actually get them... Which I'd highly doubt since someone before me ordered 25. (d'oh!)

Anyone got one yet?
Are you sure they are PGA type?

It says so on the web site.
-
What it says on the website and what a $1 part actually turns out to be are two different things in my book.
-
Datamem sent to me through US Postal, it took 5 days to travel from USA to Australia - which i thought was pretty quick. They even provided me with a tracking number.
As I only ordered (and received) two chips, the postage was comparatively high. It was $28 US for postage. Still that made it $15 per chip all up, which is very reasonable and something I was happy to pay.
The ones I ordered were PGA - I'm using one now and it is working fine.
I did think about letting AmigaKit know about them, but I thought it better to let the Amiga community know first, and I'd be surprised if AmigaKit dont watch the Amiga.Org forum, so they probably know now too.
For those of you that jumped in and ordered some chips, I hope your purchase goes as smoothly as mine did.
-
Yes, probably not a good idea to post here, now we'll see the stocks depleted and have to pay again stupid prices in places like amigakit or ebay :(
I placed an order and i hope it arrives. It should be fast and all since I made it from within the US.
-
My order for 3 just got cancelled. I guess someone order all of them... hopefully they'll show up cheap enough???

Yeah, my order got canceled, too. No luck for me. Maybe some will show up somewhere. Man, I still kick myself sometimes for selling my old A1200/GVP030/882 combo back in the day.
-
I got a reply to my email, someone bought the lot of them now. I wonder whom as I hope the person's intentions are to share them out and not to be self-ish.
-
I am the one that tried to order 25 of them so I could share them with all of you. They all were canceled. Here is the reply that I just received from them.
Sorry, I tried.
-Jeff
Hello,
The item you ordered is a clearance item and is no longer available.
Sorry about the inconvenience.

Well definitely someone played smart and got there first and we will now have to pay through the nose for the privilege.
This sucks.

Last week I bought a 68882 50 Mhz PGA in this spanish store.
http://www.amigasuperbit.com/
They have 68882 in stock.
-
Amigakit.com has 68882s in 25 and 33Mhz for not too crazy of a price. I know $1 is a lot less that $30 but still they have to locate and stock them. Many of the suppliers that I've found want a minimum of $300 order.
So if you want to get only 68882s from them you'd need to buy a lot of them to make it worth the order.
These guys have 2,605 of them - they don't specify type or Mhz ratings and their minimum order is $300.
MC68882 (http://www.4starelectronics.com/part_detail/mc68882.html?master=3535917)
So, if someone needs 68882 and feels that the community needs a large quantity of them then you might get a good deal on them but only if you are willing to spend $300USD to do so.

But which speed are these?
The US site linked before has some more 68882s but at 30Mhz only.
Price is $1 again.
-
I got an email back from the $1 place. They can get more, but at $15/ea. good deal? anyone want me to order a bunch and ship worldwide?
-

I've found a supplier for bulk orders of the 33Mhz FPU. Anyone interested?
Thread to express interest in FPU order. (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=36592)
:-D
-
@ Joekster, Il take a 50Mhz one off you.
-
joekster: i'd take a 50mhz if you got hold of some at that price.
