Title: FS: Last Chance Amiga Software $55 shipped in US, $75 to EU.
Post by: JKD on May 03, 2008, 11:35:59 PM
I KNOW SOMEONE NEEDS THIS STUFF! Can't believe no one is interested in Tornado 3D :-/

Have this lot for sale:

Eyelit Tornado 3D v2.0 + Powerpack Vol 1 (I definately have a legal upgrade to this which I will supply on CD...3.x and PPC Still have the dongle but the requirement was removed in later versions) - $50

Cloanto Personal Paint (CD) - $10

NcodeR MPEG-Audio encoder (PPC) (CD) -$5

DOpus Magellan II (floppy based) - $10

Microcode Solutions PCx emulator (floppy) -$5

The Shapeshifter mac emulator (floppy) - $5

Distant Suns 5.0 (floppy) - $10

FLD AFS Pro File System (floppy) - $5

Add $3.95 for shipping first item (US) then $2 for ea. item after that for multiple items.

Or the lot for $55 US, $75 to the EU.

All come with original manual (if they had one) and some in boxes.

Will ship overseas for xtra (buy more items to get better value on shipping is my advice! :D)

@JKD: im very very sorry for not replying earlier. I had an argument (terrible) with my father (who was supposed to be receiving the stuff in his home, Miami, which could saved me a lot of dollars in shipping costs) and days later i broke my right wrist, so i was unable & far away from a computer for almost 3 weeks (i dont have a PC at home, only at my job)

I know it may sound a dumb excuse, but believe me its the 100% truth.

ATM im having big difficulties in writing, since i still have a cover in my hand, which makes me writing a painful situation

Please accept all my apologies for this totally unexpected situation.I feel very ashamed, and I had no intention in playing with you or your time, believe me

Hope you understand me and we can (finally) have a deal

Sincerly
Sebastian

No. The "to" is not strictly being used as a preposition, but as part of a verb phrase, so it is acceptable to use it at the end of the sentence. If you insist on not placing "to" at the end of the sentence, the only way to construct it would be something like "Replied to all PMs". "ALL PMs have to which been replied" is agrammatical (and sounds ugly).

...or "All PMs have been replied to."...which is basically the sentence I shortened :D
Title: Re: grammer
Post by: motorollin on July 03, 2008, 06:14:42 PM
That sentence still ends with "to", and Weirdami was referring to the rule in English that a sentence shouldn't end with a preposition. However, judging by the thread title as changed by him (really annoying BTW) he's not exactly an authority - he can't even *spell* grammar :-P

Realistically, never allowing sentences to end with prepositions results in some very awkward and ugly constructions, so it's a rule I'm prepared to break from time to time ;-)

I do not remember any rules of grammar, but if by "all PM's replied to", you meant all PM's will be replied to, I would not see anything wrong with that.
If it is technically wrong then language is a living thing which changes over time and what I wrote will be OK one day
Title: Re: grammer
Post by: motorollin on July 03, 2008, 09:33:33 PM
"Replied to" is the past tense, and would technically require an object after the "to", showing what was replied to. E.g.:

"I replied to all PMs"

"Have been replied to" is the present perfect tense. Since it is a passive construction, the object comes before the verb phrase. E.g.:

"All PMs have been replied to"

This is technically incorrect, since the sentence ends with a preposition ("to"). However, "replied to" could be considered a verb in itself, ridding "to" of the property of preposition and rendering the sentence valid.
