Hi All,
Got an A600HD kindly given to me that I'm passing on to a friend. Its got the 2.05 Kickstart in and was wondering can one of my old A1200 3.0 Kickstarts be put in it?
Cheers,
Mike.

no... simple reason: A600 == 1 chip... while the A1200 == 2 chips.
AFAIK an A500/A2000 rom chip also fits the A600

Nope sorry, The A1200 uses two kickstart chips, the A600 uses one. (the data is the spread over the two chips to give it 32bit access)

Cheers for replies, thought it wouldn't work :)

But if you have a 3.0 ROM, you can use the image of it to "blizzkick" your A600 to boot onto ks39.106 (3.0 ROM version).
Of course, since you have an A600, blizzkick don't work. But there is other re-kick program who works in plain 68000 CPUs. I just don't remember the name right now.
Tip: look in http://aminet.net for 68000.

Are thee any KS switchers that take 1- and 2-chip ROMs? My Micronik ZorroII board for A500 has room for KS 1.x, 2.x and also 3.0 with 2 chips. I newer tried it as I have ordinary switcher installed with 2.x and 3.1 (1-chip version). I think that Zorro board was made prior to 1-chip KS 3.1 for A500/600/2000 was produced.

No, there isn't any kickstart switcher for elder Amigas who can held a splitted ROM.
Buy a 3.1 version intended for A500/2000/600 in Amigakit or Vesalia.
