Hi,
I know this far fetched... what would be needed to have a 2000 be able to run the 4.0 system? like hardware.I found a few games that would like 04 to run that are from Aminet
Would a 040 cpu handle it with 32 megs of ram?
Thanks,
Xanaa

No, you need a Cyberstorm PPC 603e or 604 PowerPC processor and plenty of RAM. An A2000 will NOT be able to run AmigaOS 4.0, only 3.9 tops.

OS4 needs a PPC CPU, so either you buy an A1200 with BlizzardPPC, an A4000 with Cyberstorm PPC, or an AmigaOne system. Or you find yourself one of the 4 PPC developer boards and push that on a Blizzard 2060 accelerator, like the one you can find in the photo album on this site.
To give a short answer: your A2000 will never run OS4.

There is this guy who has a maxed-out Amiga 2000 with one of the over-rare PhaseV PPC developerboards for the A2000. Can't remember if he has OS4 running on it or not.

Basically OS4 doesn't use the motorola processor at all. If it runs a legacy program it uses a 68000 emulator. OS4 *requires* PPC and that won't change.

Link (http://youtube.com/watch?v=foWfXhmi1wY) to the video showing what he did. Whether OS4 will install and run on it is a completely different matter.
