Title: PAL Amiga 600 -> NTSC - Urgent
Post by: Sonicwolf on May 01, 2008, 03:59:00 AM
I need a very quick response here. if I were to buy an Amiga 600 with all the cords (A united kingdom purchase IE PAL region) What would I need to hook it up here? Would it work if I just got a power plug converter? Is there anything I can do about video differences? Do NTSC region floppy disk's work in PAL Amiga's?

Please respond quick, It would very much be appreciated. Thank you.

Dont waste your time.  You will neet a step down transformer, a PAL capable TV.  Good news is all disks work on all Amigas (except for older ones with 512k agnus)

Ideally you'd want a new PSU (really don't want to pay to ship that thing anyway, especially since it's useless over here).

What do you want to use it for? If you're just playing old floppies, and your TV won't display PAL properly, it's nothing to hold down both mouse buttons on startup, hit the space bar (goes to NTSC) and select NTSC bootup.

No problem at all if you're using an old C= monitor.

Might be a slight hassle, but NTSC A600s are pretty rare.

Most modern TVs are multisystem, they are all produced in China and they just switch the power code and tuner for different countries.  Back in the days when TVs had a picture tube (thank deity those days are gone) TVs that did more than one system were more expensive and hence Americans didn't buy them.
