Title: Using midi controller keyboards on Amiga/OctaMED
Post by: SamOS39 on April 29, 2008, 04:08:03 PM
just a couple questions:

-can you select diferent instrument sounds (in octameds intsrument list) via the preset/midichannel on the controller keyboard?

-if the setup is: "MIDI CONTROLLER -> AMIGA -> POLYPHONIC SYNTH" and on of the instruments in your instrument list midi is set to use a specific sound on the external synth, can you press more than one key on the controller?

-also will THIS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260233482249&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016) be okay to use with an A1200?

cheers

Samm.

Hi,

"-can you select diferent instrument sounds (in octameds intsrument list) via the preset/midichannel on the controller keyboard?"

Yes should, you can set up each Octamed instrument, and set its midi channel. Then on the keyboard, switching instruments should play the corresponding Octamed sounds. But I normally work in the other direction from you: AMIGA -> MIDI KEYBOARD -> OTHER MIDI THING

"-if the setup is: "MIDI CONTROLLER -> AMIGA -> POLYPHONIC SYNTH" and on of the instruments in your instrument list midi is set to use a specific sound on the external synth, can you press more than one key on the controller?"

Umm yes?, look into 'chord' settings. With this, multiple keyboard notes get layed onto several Octamed tracks, last I tried.

-also will THIS be okay to use with an A1200?

Seems fine, does it have any internal sounds?

That will work, but i`m not so sure about pitchwheels, sliders etc.  I just use a standard MIDI keyboard, and assign different keys for track on/off, pitch up/down, etc.  But I have also assigned two keys to change the sample up/down as well, so you could do that...

I have asked here before but couldn`t find out much!!

Couldn`t find the thread though...

Good luck!!
