Title: a1200 replacement floppy drive
Post by: swoslover on April 26, 2008, 11:38:41 PM
I need to replace the internal floppy drive on an a1200 which isn't working.

How easy to do will this be, also where can I find one, I tried akit but they didn't seem to have any, nor ebay.

Failing this would an external one work as a replacement?

Amigakit are advertising that they've got some at the moment  :-)

Some external drives have additional circuitry installed on them and may not work directly

Hi

I show how to do this on my site...

Just add a favourite search to Ebay and you will get one fairly easy... Also check for junked machines for spares and repair. I would stay with fitting an internal one as the machine looks and feels much better that way.

The machine will boot from an external drive, just takes a touch longer to get to the boot screen. Also you can tell the computer to boot from the external drive from the early boot screen. Best though, get a replacement drive.
