Title: Just got an A200HD
Post by: Flash on April 25, 2008, 10:46:33 PM
Hi all,
I've just bought an Amiga 2000HD, no 2090 daughtercard, shows battery leakage, while boots to a black screen, how to repair leakage, and replace battery. Anything else to test while I am repairing to working order?

There are lots of threads on this subject. Use the Search function with "Battery leakage" and you'll find plenty. This (http://amiga.serveftp.net/) is also a very good resource for these kind of problems.

Hi

It really depends on how badly damaged the board is. If you are not booting normally then I would guess the board is shot. You could try mending but to be honest probably better to get another motherboard. You don`t need the battery. I generally take them out of my Amigas... They can be a real killer.

Whilst this link is for and A4000 it still aplies..

Motherboards aren't still growing on trees!  I'd clean it up and try to repair it.

If you are going to restore the hard drive interface, there are much better options than the 2090.

I guess it depends what skill level you have at mending motherboards. Not the easiest of things to fix. We are not even sure here if it is the battery. I would first remove the battery and clean up then work on whether the machine can boot from floppy. The machine needs neither the 2090 or battery to work. He doesn`t have a 2090 to restore.
