Look (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&category=3543&ssPageName=WDVW&item=220226671885&rd=1) how small this thing is. It's on ebay, I'm not selling it, but scroll down to the bottom and you'll see a picture of it up close. Talk about tiny! I mean, wow, so small you need a macro photo of your fingertip to see it!

Err - that's a standard CR2032 battery... What's making it so tiny?
-
what component do you need to add to the socket in order to prevent charging the battery?

CPC sell a rechargeable Lithium cell battery and holder in one.
I've fitted one of these to my 2000HD and 4000D
I'll be doing my 2 * A500+ shortly.

A germanium diode, nothing more. Why germanium? Because it only have a voltage drop of 0.3V, instead the 0.7V on silicon equivalents.

that is not true, voltage drop is much less than 0.7V because current is tiny..

The photo does indeed make it look small but it's a standard CR2032 battery and you can see in the photos about it that it takes most of the area that the old battery covered. :-D
They are a cool solution though and I've never seen one leak and I've worked on well over a thousand machines with them in it.
